"Your network is your net worth" Andrei Bezrukov I came across some interesting thoughts on networking and our network from former intelligence officer Andrei Bezrukov. The principle of developing business, much like intelligence work, lies in people and expanding the right connections. By maintaining our network, we not only expand our opportunities but also deepen our understanding of who we are and what we want to achieve. He highlighted three main categories of people and shared a task that should be performed regularly. 1️⃣ Who are those contacts without whom I can't do? Upon whom does my business depend? Whom can't I afford to lose? These are important connections upon which our business relies. We should ask ourselves: "Is everything going well for them? Are they getting what they want from me?" These are the people we depend on, and maintaining ties with them is our responsibility. 2️⃣ (development circle) - these are the people we need but with whom we don't yet have a working connection. These are our future contacts. They are the ones who have something we want or need to have. Competencies, connections, character traits, or resources. We should strive to establish contact with these individuals and develop relationships. 3️⃣ (productivity circle) - these are our contacts, primarily those with whom we frequently interact for work, business, and so on. It also includes those to whom we don't pay much attention. We may miss out on opportunities due to lack of attention to this group. It's important to periodically review our network and dedicate time to these connections. ⬇️ 📌 Useful Task: List these contacts and sort them every 3-4 months. Just as calibrating our goals, it's essential to understand why we need these contacts. Regularly updating the list of contacts will help you stay informed about changes and efficiently use your connections to achieve your goals. And what to do with these contacts? I once wrote about this in my Telegram channel a couple of years ago. Hello, At SolutionsMetrix, we successfully customize and implement the CRM system Creatio for our clients. We encountered a problem in one of our projects where one database query was very slow, taking more than one second per query. You might think the solution is straightforward – build an index. However, the issue was that an index was already in place on the field, but it was not being utilized effectively. This issue stems from how standard indexes are created in PostgreSQL for Creatio. Here's an example: CREATE INDEX "IFMRfxg90eSaLwnpPVrWw4BibLNE" ON public."Lead" USING btree(upper(("SMSomeTextField")::text) NULLS FIRST); The use of upper in the index creation means that searches on SMSomeTextField without transforming the text to uppercase will not utilize this index. Additionally, the standard Select class from C# code, which uses a filter like: .Where("SMSomeTextField").IsEqual(Column.Parameter(value)) does not include any function to convert text to uppercase, affecting query speed and system performance. This limitation applies specifically to queries made through the Select, Update, and Delete classes in C#. Here are our options for resolving this: 1. Add an index without upper through the SQL query scheme. 2. Include the upper function in the Select query: .Where(Func.Upper("SMSomeTextField")).IsEqual(Func.Upper(Column.Parameter(value))) 3. Use ESQ (EntitySchemaQuery) instead of the Select, Update, and Delete classes. Each option has its advantages and disadvantages: - The first option is easier to implement in an existing process but risks future index duplication since it bypasses the standard indexing mechanism. - The second option leverages existing indexes but complicates the application code. Additionally, there are cases where case sensitivity is crucial. - The third option also utilizes standard indexes but requires integrating the more complex and demanding EntitySchemaQuery class, which might not always be appropriate, especially for mass update and deletion operations. In summary, understanding the intricacies of index utilization in Creatio, particularly with PostgreSQL, equips us to address performance issues in our CRM implementations better. Now aware of how the upper function can impact query speeds, we can more effectively diagnose and remedy slow queries when they arise.
