In a major leap forward for digital payments, Brazilian digital bank PicPay has launched the 𝐏𝐢𝐜𝐏𝐚𝐲 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭, an AI-driven solution that enables Pix payments directly on WhatsApp. This service is developed in partnership with Meta and powered by Microsoft’s Azure OpenAI Service, and transforms how millions of Brazilians manage transactions. 𝐅𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐭𝐬: 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐀𝐈 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: PicPay’s Generative AI technology identifies Pix keys from various sources — text, audio, photos, and even screenshots — regardless of context. For example, it can detect a Pix key buried within a restaurant’s price list or group chat, even calculating expenses for a shared barbecue. 𝐒𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐔𝐬𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞: This tool moves beyond conventional chatbots by processing payments seamlessly without the need for app switching. Simply forward content to the PicPay Assistant on WhatsApp, and it securely completes transactions in the PicPay app with biometric authentication. 𝐄𝐧𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲: The PicPay Assistant operates with end-to-end encryption and a verified account on WhatsApp. It includes Safe Mode for setting transaction limits, ensuring that users have full control over their payments. Brazil’s Pix payment system recorded over 5.5 billion transactions in September alone, a 41% increase from last year, reflecting the nation’s rapid digital adoption. "Data isn’t just the new gold; it’s the largest asset class humanity has ever built. It’s embedded in everything we touch and see, with the power to reshape how we value and understand the world." For me, data has evolved from mere information to the backbone of value, trust, and ethical progress. Its reach is boundless, touching every part of our lives—and with that comes immense responsibility. How we structure, own, and use data defines its impact, and ultimately, the future we’re building together. Why This Matters: 𝐎𝐰𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲: Data accountability builds trust, and in finance, this means structured data that everyone can see and own transparently. 𝐁𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭: As we look forward, it’s critical to create boundaries around data use to protect personal and societal values. 𝐎𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐳𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐇𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲: Using AI responsibly allows data to optimize for more than just profit. We’re setting up technology to serve people first. ⏳ 𝐉𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐚 𝐟𝐞𝐰 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐨! Join Me on the Money20/20 20/20 main stage today as I dive into these ideas with André Vellozo (DrumWave Inc. CEO), Michael Clark (Data Scholar, 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐞𝐱𝐭 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐋𝐋𝐂), and Brittany Kaiser (Founder, Own Your Data Foundation). Together, we’ll explore how data ownership, #transparency, and #accountability can drive meaningful change and set the course for a finance-first digital future. #Data #FutureOfData #DataOwnership #DigitalInnovation #Money2020 Chris Knight Christina Gil

  • We are excited to be at Money20/20 with our co-founder Bianca Lopes leading the way! For the first time since her 2016 debut, Bianca is back on the main stage, driving a vital conversation around “𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐎𝐰𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 + 𝐀𝐈 𝐂𝐚𝐧 𝐆𝐞𝐭 𝐔𝐬 𝐁𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐁𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫.” She will explore how 𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 and 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 serve as foundational elements in building a digital economy that prioritizes people, privacy, and trust. Her goal is to challenge the traditional role of data in finance, envisioning it as an asset class with the potential to transform financial ecosystems. Key Themes of the Panel Discussion: 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐎𝐰𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐭 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬: Discussions will be around how data is no longer a corporate resource but a personal asset class—one of the largest humanity has ever known. By giving individuals control over their data, we create opportunities to redefine value in a way that’s both empowering and equitable. 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐈: As AI becomes integral to finance, transparency and accountability are essential for creating a trustworthy digital ecosystem. Bianca and her panelists will discuss how we can regulate data inputs responsibly to enable AI that respects privacy and enhances user trust. 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞-𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐃𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞: The panel will explore the opportunities and challenges of developing financial systems that are not only inclusive and sustainable but also rooted in responsible data practices. In collaboration with Potion, Finance of Tomorrow aims to drive forward solutions that uphold transparency, foster trust, and attract sustainable investment. Join us as Bianca leads this essential discussion on building a finance-first future where data ownership, accountability, and inclusivity are the cornerstones of progress. Let’s shape a digital financial ecosystem that respects individuals, protects data, and empowers communities. #FinanceOfTomorrow #Money2020 #DataTransparency #TrustInFinance #DigitalFuture

The rumours have been around and also intensified since Gabriel Muricca Galípolo delivered a great speech at the Finance of Tomorrow conference in Rio de Janeiro a few weeks ago and then yesterday it was announced by Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva that Galípolo was to be appointed the next President of the Brazilian Central Bank (Banco Central do Brasil).  I met Gabriel Muricca Galípolo at Finance of Tomorrow and was part of the #tokenization panels discussing the regulatory and legislative advancements in #Brazil driven by CVM and Banco Central do Brasil creating the foundational layer for the technology transition we see happening there. In the discussions, it was clear that Galípolo is an amazing advocate for tokenization of the financial infrastructure and the services built on top of it. He sees it as an enabler for the Brazilian economy and its businesses bringing inclusion and competition into a market that ultra large financial institutions and intermediaries have dominated. His vision of connecting sectors through tokenization and #DREX as a central platform creating a more pareto-efficient domestic infrastructure is what makes #Brazil the global leader and hotspot for #fintech and its connected services. I believe that the current implementation of financial #regulation and #legislation in Brazil sets a dominant path for how next-generation finance could look globally and thus also in countries that previously have been global leaders in fintech advancements. This includes my home country Denmark which has been driving change for many years but has fallen behind since. Therefore I also decided to invite a Danish delegation to Finance of Tomorrow earlier this year but unfortunately, they weren't able to participate this time around of course I hope that they will join next time to start exploring the opportunities in Brazil, first at the #G20 in Rio de Janeiro later this year but especially at #COP30 next year where Brazil regulators and central bank will focus on how financial infrastructure facilitated by technology can be a solution to the environmental issues we all face. As #Denmark has the #EU presidency during #COP30 next year it marks an amazing opportunity for Denmark to lead and show how we intend to solve these #environmental issues. Our new and very tech-savvy Europe Minister Marie Bjerre will lead the EU delegation and I hope she will take the opportunity to visit Finance of Tomorrow next time with other senior executives from the Danish Government, Central Bank and Regulators to learn from the current global leader. Bianca Lopes, thank you for inviting me to Finance of Tomorrow this year. There is no doubt your event is the leading regulatory and central bank event in #LATAM, and it has set precedence for the future of global financial regulation, - infrastructure and - services. #VLKAdvogados #financeoftomorrow #BancoCentral #IA
