📣 Ilka von Dalwigk joins RECHARGE in the new position of Director General! ✨ Ilka started this week in her new role, and moves from EIT InnoEnergy where she supported the European Batteries Alliance (EBA) activity since its creation. With a strong focus on sustainability and supply chain topics she has been instrumental in building up and managing the vast and complex network of the stakeholders in this initiative, as well as developing the set of initial recommendations that contributed to the design and content of actions that have been identified as necessary by the EBA, to make the EU a key player in the global #battery market. Lately she has been leading the work in updating those recommendations to ensure the competitiveness of the European battery industry in the face of recent geopolitical challenges. Ilka has recently been awarded the Battery Star Award 2024 by the BEPA - Batteries European Partnership Association for her longstanding contribution to the battery sector. 👏 Now, we Welcome Ilka on board of RECHARGE! We are thrilled to have you as part of our team and the #batteries ecosystem! 🔋

⏰ It's time to deliver green competitiveness for Europe! Take a look back at our #RooftopREconnect event where we brought the good energy to kick-start the new political cycle in Brussels. It was great to be joined by Deputy Director-General of DG ENER Mechthild Wörsdörfer, Seán Kelly MEP, MEP Thomas Pellerin-Carlin, and MEP Benedetta Scuderi to one of Brussels' most iconic rooftops. 🌇 All parties are aligned. The energy transition is contributing to a competitive, prosperous Europe. It's now time to implement the good framework we have, and concentrate on the missing pieces: energy system flexibility and electrification! Thanks also to our co-organisers AVERE - The European Association for Electromobility, European Heat Pump Association, and RECHARGE – European Association of the Advanced Rechargeable & Lithium Batteries Value Chain, as well as our event partners EUROPEAN ALUMINIUM. We are stronger together 💪 and look forward to collaborating in the coming months and years to deliver a resilient, prosperous and competitive Europe powered by good energy. #SolarSeptember

“We are in the middle of a transformation” Daniel Waldmann from our member BASF Environmental Catalyst and Metal Solutions today at the #ICBR2024. Battery recycling in Europe will come - but today it is still facing challenges: slowing down of the EV market & of cells production creating uncertainty on feedstock forecasts. The non-legislative (“secondary”) acts on the recycling targets of the EU Batteries Regulartion are not defined yet, battery waste codes incl. for black mass are yet to be updated, and end-of-life vehicles shipment needs to be better regulated (in the ELV Regulation). EU’s #competitiveness is not only an issue for the nascent #battery manufacturing ecocystem - but a thriving battery manufacturing & #recycling in Europe is a necessity for our energy security & materials resilience reducing dependencies. Therefore, while being at the International Congress for Battery Recycling in Basel, we have very much welcomed the Draghi Report on the future of European Competitivness. 👏 👏👏 #batteryrecycling #draghireport #circulareconomy #energysecurity #energytransition

Yesterday at this time we were Reconnecting on the Rooftop together with other associations, policy-makers and stakeholders! 😎 🤝 Many thanks for this collaboration to SolarPower Europe, European Heat Pump Association, AVERE - The European Association for Electromobility and EUROPEAN ALUMINIUM for this year's #RooftopREconnect Networking event. Inspiring interventions from the Institutions were also on the menu 👍: - Mechthild Wörsdörfer (DG ENER, European Commission), - Seán Kelly MEP - Thomas Pellerin-Carlin (MEP) - Benedetta Scuderi (MEP) Ilka von Dalwigk, in her speech called on the social dimension which is often not highlighted enough: a strong implementation of the #GreenDeal, together with the highly expected #CleanIndustrialDeal, will create value, investments and jobs in the EU. #Batteries are key enabler for the #energytransition, providing storage solutions for prosumers/households and power their EVs. Batteries are capable of providing grid services and are essential for the digital transformation. There is no #electrification without batteries. And, when batteries are made and recycled in Europe, they create value on the continent. Our industry's growth is not only essential for Europe's future but also for setting the standards for a more #sustainable and responsible #batteriesvaluechain globally. 🌿 🔋 🌍 💚
