PAVE Europe
Transportation Programs
Communicating and educating on autonomous technology for the group that matters: the users.
About us
To bring the conversation about automated vehicles (AVs) to the public so that everyone can play a role in shaping our future. PAVE Europe’s goal is purely educational—we don’t advocate for a particular technology or specific public policies. Our members believe that we can only achieve the potential benefits of driverless technology if the public and policymakers know the honest facts. PAVE wants to raise public awareness of both what is on the roads today and what is possible for the future.

How can autonomous vehicle technology truly benefit society? During our recent webinar, "Building Trust: The Road to Public Acceptance of Autonomous Vehicles”, Ingrid Skogsmo from the Swedish National Road and Transport Research Institute (VTI) challenged our audience with critical questions: - What are the significant use cases that truly matter to people? - How can we design AV services that are affordable, attractive, accessible, and available for all? - How do we ensure AV technology provides real value? At the core of it is the need for trust and meaningful integration of AVs into daily lives. People need to see, experience, and benefit from autonomous vehicles to understand their potential - be it safer roads, cleaner environments, or equitable mobility solutions. 👉 Dive deeper into these questions and opportunities that AVs offer in our latest publication, “Safer, Cleaner, More Equitable: Seizing the Opportunities of Highly Automated Vehicles”: https://lnkd.in/gbRxTE2f Watch the webinar here: https://lnkd.in/eDJGrCNs Together, we can work to shape a future where autonomous vehicles provide true value for society. #AutonomousVehicles #PublicTrust #Innovation #FutureOfMobility #Sustainability #EquitableMobility

📢 Thrilled to share that PAVE Europe has published the very first white paper: “Safer, Cleaner, More Equitable: Seizing the Opportunities of Highly Automated Vehicles.” 🚘🌍 Trust is a critical factor in the adoption of any new technology, especially one that is as impactful as automated vehicles. This paper is designed to bridge the gap in knowledge and encourage informed discussions about how AVs can contribute to a safer, cleaner and more equitable future. This paper provides a comprehensive overview of the current landscape of autonomous mobility, highlighting its potential to enhance safety, reduce emissions, and improve accessibility. It is intended to foster understanding and trust in autonomous vehicle technology and serves as the first in a series of white papers aimed at sparking discussions on the future of mobility. Recognizing that writing papers alone won't build trust and acceptance in AVs, PAVE Europe and the 'Understanding, Trust, and Acceptance' working group, which is lead by P3 autonomous mobility, have additional initiatives in the pipeline, including university lectures and in-field acceptance studies. Stay tuned! Special thanks to Guido Di Pasquale, Nicola Hare, Karl Obermair and all (academic advisory) board members for supporting the effort throughout the last months. And a big THANK YOU to all contributors of the paper: Tobias Reich, Rich Autonomy GmbH Lukas Neckermann, Neckermann Strategic Advisors George Ivanov, Waymo Chris Lichtmannecker, Mobileye Fabian Fruhmann, Mobileye Javier Guimerá Tena, Padam Mobility Nicolas Morael, Transdev Maurizio Caon, HES-SO Haute école spécialisée de Suisse occidentale Oliver Nahon, Swiss Association for Autonomous Mobility (SAAM) And, obviously, many thanks to the other working group leaders from P3, Michael Herdrich and Lucas Bublitz. If you want to learn more and access the paper, please check out the link in the comments. #PAVEEurope #autonomousdriving #autonomousvehicles #innovation #technology #ai #automobilindustrie #automotiveindustrie #trust

PAVE Europe was proud to host the first Diversify-CCAM Stakeholder Board Meeting last week in Brussels! 🚗🌟 A diverse group of stakeholders gathered to collaboratively explore the opportunities and challenges surrounding CCAM implementation across various cultural, geographical, and policy contexts. We would like to thank our participants for their insights and guidance, Professor William Riggs for leading the meeting, and our Consortia partners for their contributions. Visit the Diversify-CCAM website for more information on the project: https://diversify-ccam.eu/ Follow the page below for regular updates. #DiversifyCCAM #FutureMobility #Innovation #SocioEconomicImpact #AutomatedMobility
Last week, we gathered at the European Conference of Transport Research Institutes (ECTRI) offices in Brussels for the much-anticipated Stakeholder Board Meeting of the Diversify-CCAM project. Led by William Riggs and Guido Di Pasquale, the event brought together top experts, local pilot site representatives, and stakeholders from across Europe for critical discussions about the future of Connected, Cooperative, and Automated Mobility (CCAM). 🎤 Key Takeaways from the Day: 🔹 Cultural, Social, and Regional Diversity Matters: Pilot site insights emphasised the need to tailor CCAM adoption strategies to address cultural, social, geographical, and economic differences. 🔹 Bridging the Awareness Gap: Public perception of CCAM remains a challenge. Intentional communication and education strategies are crucial for increasing awareness and trust in CCAM services. 🔹 Collaborative Partnerships Are Key: Governments, industry, and research institutions must collaborate to inform diverse communities and cultures about the benefits of CCAM, addressing a significant barrier to adoption. A big thank you to the European Commission, CINEA - European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency, CCAM Association, and our project partners for your support and insights. The day was an incredible step forward in defining the path for CCAM adoption in Europe. 📢 Let’s keep the momentum going! If you missed the event but want to stay involved, connect with us to learn more about the Diversify-CCAM project.
