🏤 Busy Week for CONEBI! 🏤 After yesterday's engaging discussions at the CONEBI General Assembly, the CONEBI convened today for our annual event at the European Parliament, graciously hosted by MEP Thomas Pellerin-Carlin-Carlin, Member of the ITRE Committee: "The Bicycle Industry in Europe: From the European Declaration on Cycling to the Transition Pathway of the Mobility Industries." After an opening by Manuel Marsilio, CONEBI General Manager, and massimo panzeri, CONEBI President, 🎤 I had the privilege of moderating a panel on EU Industrial Transition, focusing on the synergies between public and private sectors from a political perspective. Our esteemed speakers included: - Mark Nicklas - Philippe Froissard - Eric von Breska - Germain LESUR - Eduardo Bianchi de Aguiar - Kacper Sosnowski The event highlighted the crucial role of the Bicycle, E-Bike, Parts & Accessories industries in the EU, starting from the European Declaration on Cycling under the umbrella of the European Green Deal, by addressing the recent Transition Pathway of the Mobility Industries and several other initiatives of the European Commission focused on the bicycle industry. Europe has pledged to lead on climate action, setting ambitious goals to work with Member States towards a 55% cut in emissions by 2030 and achieving climate neutrality by 2050. The "100 Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities by 2030" initiative is a prime example, ensuring these cities act as hubs for experimentation and innovation, enabling all European cities to follow suit. Within this policy framework and the ongoing transition, looking at the next Multiannual Financial Framework, cycling can be a fundamental trigger if properly fostered. Public-private initiatives at both EU and national levels are key to supporting the Twin Transition of the industry in Europe, with policy, regulatory, and funding actions pivotal to supporting investments, growth, and competitiveness of the entire sector in Europe. The event was also the occasion for CONEBI to present its manifesto for the 2024-2029 EU term. Looking forward to seeing the discussed plans and projects come to reality, driving forward the future of the cycling industry in Europe! 🚲 Earlier this month, we had a fantastic time at the EUROBIKE Show in Frankfurt. Christopher Fietzek, Sales Engineering Manager at Panasonic Industry Europe, participated in a panel discussion on "The Impact of the EU Batteries Regulation on the Cycling Industry" with other industry representatives, sharing valuable insights on navigating these new regulations. Christopher represents Panasonic in the RECHARGE association group and CENELEC/DKE standardization committees, and leads the EU battery regulation project for Panasonic at the European level. After Daniela Leveratto from Confederation of the European Bicycle Industry - CONEBI introduced the EU’s Batteries Regulation in her keynote speech, an insightful discussion with industry representatives followed. They explored the technical impact and collaborative opportunities of the new regulation. 🌍 The World Bicycle Industry Association (WBIA) concluded its annual General Assembly last week at the 2024 EUROBIKE show. The General Assembly saw active participation from representatives of WBIA’s member associations, including: ✅ Confederation of the European Bicycle Industry (CONEBI)  ✅ Taiwan Bicycle Association (TBA)  ✅ Bicycle Association Japan (BAJ)  ✅ All India Cycle Manufacturers’ Association (AICMA)  ✅ PeopleForBikes (USA) ♻️ The WBIA remains focused on promoting sustainability initiatives for global supply chains, including the recently launched WBIA Sustainable Supply Chain project (SSC), which is based on the WBIA's 10 Sustainable Supply Chain Principles.
