The Belgian 🇧🇪 Ministry of Interior BeSafe organised yesterday the first European Private Security Roundtable. In the run up to the Belgian EU Council Presidency, the meeting assembled the national regulatory authorities of EU Member States, the European Commission and a CoESS delegation to discuss diverse matters such as better regulation, public procurement, tackling labour shortages, public-private partnerships, the transposition of the CER Directive and the integration of new technologies. CoESS highly welcomed the initiative of the Belgian government and a fruitful exchange to promote a good collaboration between the sector and public authorities. Catherine Piana Friedrich P. Acting as the voice of Private Security in Europe
About us
CoESS brings together 23 national associations across Europe, representing 45,000 private security companies with 2 million private security guards. The mission of CoESS is to support the growth of an industry that delivers solutions of high QUALITY and professionalism. CoESS and its members seek to raise the bar and drive the standards up in terms of employment conditions, training and certification, as well as the use of innovative technology and mission-centric services that protect European citizens, businesses, public spaces and critical infrastructure. Quality results in higher SAFETY standards in protecting people, assets and infrastructure – and it also requires COMPLIANCE with administrative, social, financial and tax rules. These are the preconditions to maintain TRUST from the authorities, the corporate world and society in general. CoESS is a strongly committed partner to the EU institutions in bringing added value to European security and social policies. We work for modern industry standards and strengthened cooperation with private operators and law enforcement. We promote high quality services and stand for fair competition between players.

🔵 Interesting day at the European Commission Berlaymont HQ, where we joined fellow Social Partners in the EU Liaison Forum to discuss the upcoming Social Agenda of the Commission. A key focus was the use of AI in the workplace, and CoESS promoted its newly published Charter on the responsible and ethical use of AI in security services (check out www.coess.eu). We also emphasized the importance of the EU Public Procurement Directive Revision to further key social objectives, including the promotion of quality jobs and Collective Bargaining. Looking forward to continuing this important dialogue for the future of work in Europe! #AI #FutureOfWork #SocialDialogue #EUAgenda #CoESS #CollectiveBargaining #PublicProcurement #securityservices #essentialservices

🚨 New White Paper on "Public-Private Partnerships: Unlocking the Potential for Enhanced Security" We are excited to announce the launch of our latest White Paper, presented at the 7th European Security Summit last week. This report, jointly presented by CoESS, de Nederlandse Veiligheidsbranche and the International Security Ligue dives deep into the importance of Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) between Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) and Private Security Companies (PSCs) in enhancing security across Europe. Highlights from the report: 👉 Explaining the opportunities, success criteria and challenges in PPPs; 👉 Mapping out the PPPs in Europe, and highlighting some best practices; 👉 Calling the various stakeholders to take action drawn from the best practices and success stories. The White Paper offers practical solutions to overcome remaining hurdles (e.g. regulation and trust issues) and pave the way for more effective collaboration across the EU. #PublicPrivatePartnerships #Security #PrivateSecurity #PPPs

🌐 Driving Responsible and Ethical Innovation in AI for Security Services 🚨 As Artificial Intelligence (AI) will increasingly transform the security industry, it brings both tremendous opportunities and important risks. CoESS is addressing these with the launch of its Charter on the Ethical and Responsible Use of AI in the European security services. This landmark Charter, now available at www.coess.eu, provides essential guidance for security companies as they navigate the integration of AI systems into their operations. 🚩From data-driven risk analysis to smart security solutions, AI has the potential to revolutionize public security. However, the European Union’s AI Act has placed new compliance demands on "high-risk" AI applications. The CoESS Charter champions a human-centric approach to AI and provides deployers of AI in security services with: 1️⃣ guidance on the EU AI Act and both "low-risk" and "high-risk" use cases in security services. 2️⃣ opportunities and risks associated with use cases in security services. 3️⃣ core values of the security industry for the deployment of AI and practical recommendations to ensure responsible and ethical AI deployment based on the EU AI Act and CoESS values. 4️⃣ A final checklist for companies planning to integrate AI into their services. Download the Charter today at www.coess.eu and promote an ethical and responsible AI use in security services, ensuring a safer society for all. #AI #EthicalAI #SecurityInnovation #AICharter #AIAct #securityservices #essentialservices

🚀 Exciting week at the security essen Expo! Last week, we had the privilege of attending the Security Essen expo, where we witnessed some of the most cutting-edge innovations in the security industry. The highlights: 🔹 CoESS' German member BDSW BUNDESVERBAND DER SICHERHEITSWIRTSCHAFT organised the inaugural EU Drone Congress and Alexander Frank shared together with the European Commission valuable insights and recommendations from EU-level on the integration of drones and C-UAS solutions within security services – a critical step forward in enhancing security operations. 🔹 Additionally, CoESS welcomed a delegation of members from various countries, along with law enforcement representatives, to the CoESS Monitoring Committee meeting. The discussions centered around key issues like public-private collaboration in monitoring and alarm response, as well as the growing role of technological innovation in the sector – AI, cybersecurity, and the evolving impact of EU legislation. It’s an exciting time for the future of the security industry, where qualified staff and tech intersect in integrated solutions to keep us all one step ahead - and it was a great pleasure to meet with many members from Germany and abroad. #SecurityEssen #DronesInSecurity #Innovation #Cybersecurity #AI #PublicPrivatePartnerships #securityservices #essentialservices

And here's more about how leadership can shape a strong security culture. In my previous article, I discussed how leadership can help empower employees, create open communication channels, and create recognition for those who help reinforce security in their organisation. The Q&A Session of the G4S Academy Webinar which is the starting point of both these articles took me a step further in exploring how leaders can embed security into every layer of an organization, making it a shared responsibility rather than just an IT concern. This new article gives some insights on: 🔒 Effective communication strategies that make security relatable 🔒 Overcoming challenges in promoting security culture 🔒 How to normalize security practices in any environment 👉 Read the full article to discover how leadership can transform your organization’s approach to security #Leadership #SecurityCulture #OrganizationalCulture #G4SAcademy #EmployeeEngagement #BusinessSecurity

Une belle reconnaissance de la part du Ministre de l'Intérieur envers le secteur de la #sécuritéprivée. Bravo à toute la profession et à toutes celles et ceux qui ont contribué à la sécurisation des #JeuxOlympiques. A wonderful message of recognition from the French Minister of Interior vis-à-vis the #privatesecurityindustry. Big up to the whole industry and to all those who have contributed to securing this major global event #Paris2024

We fully support our Austrian member association in their action to enforce quality provisions for private security, including training provisions. As they rightly say: Training means Quality and Quality builds Trust. Much success to Robert Grabovszki, the General Secretary of the Austrian Private Security Association #VSÖ. #privatesecurity
