The Belgian 🇧🇪 Ministry of Interior BeSafe organised yesterday the first European Private Security Roundtable. In the run up to the Belgian EU Council Presidency, the meeting assembled the national regulatory authorities of EU Member States, the European Commission and a CoESS delegation to discuss diverse matters such as better regulation, public procurement, tackling labour shortages, public-private partnerships, the transposition of the CER Directive and the integration of new technologies. 🔵 Interesting day at the European Commission Berlaymont HQ, where we joined fellow Social Partners in the EU Liaison Forum to discuss the upcoming Social Agenda of the Commission. A key focus was the use of AI in the workplace, and CoESS promoted its newly published Charter on the responsible and ethical use of AI in security services (check out www.coess.eu). We also emphasized the importance of the EU Public Procurement Directive Revision to further key social objectives, including the promotion of quality jobs and Collective Bargaining. Last week, we had the privilege of attending the Security Essen expo, where we witnessed some of the most cutting-edge innovations in the security industry. The highlights: 🔹 CoESS' German member BDSW BUNDESVERBAND DER SICHERHEITSWIRTSCHAFT organised the inaugural EU Drone Congress and Alexander Frank shared together with the European Commission valuable insights and recommendations from EU-level on the integration of drones and C-UAS solutions within security services – a critical step forward in enhancing security operations. 🔹 Additionally, CoESS welcomed a delegation of members from various countries, along with law enforcement representatives, to the CoESS Monitoring Committee meeting. The discussions centered around key issues like public-private collaboration in monitoring and alarm response, as well as the growing role of technological innovation in the sector – AI, cybersecurity, and the evolving impact of EU legislation.
