📣 Exciting Plans for #CircEUlar’s Stakeholder Engagement in 2025: https://lnkd.in/dheGt5ce As 2024 draws to a close, our partners T6 Ecosystems and International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) have been busy planning next year’s #StakeholderEngagement activities which will further enrich the research tasks. Here’s what’s on the horizon: 🟠 Spring: Online sessions to explore and validate preliminary pathways, diving into #mobility, #infrastructure and rolling stock, #buildings, #digitalisation, and appliances and #waste. 🟠 Summer: Participatory backcasting workshop combining narrative insights and survey data to envision future scenarios. 🟠 Autumn: A stakeholder event in focusing on #UrbanPlanning, bringing together experts to refine our findings. 💡 These activities are designed to foster collaboration, gather critical feedback, and ensure that our results are practical, relevant, and forward-thinking!
About us
CircEUlar is a four year European Reserach and Innovation Action that will develop new modelling approaches for analysing circularity from a systems perspective accounting for: 1) dematerialisation and the transition to a service-based economy to limit material stock growth; 2) lifetime extension of material stocks through repair, maintenance, reuse; 3) waste treatment and material recycling. CircEUlar’s approach will be comprehensive, combining new data and modelling of economy-wide material stocks and flows, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and industrial value chains across interlinked sectors, with deep-dive analysis of mobility and buildings as material-intensive demand sectors. These two focus areas have large material stocks, potential for circular transformation, and strong dependence on both circular consumption and production practices. CircEUlar will also focus on digitalisation as a potential enabler of dematerialisation and supply chain circularity.

♻️ How #circular is people’s behavior across Europe? #Mobility, #Housing behaviour, and efforts to influence others to be more circular are some of the most tangible ways to observe #CircularBehavior. Over the past two years, #CircEUlar has collected data from over 5,000 households in Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Lithuania, and the United Kingdom to understand how circular people’s behavior currently is. Most people are: 🔸 willing to go without owning a car if good car sharing alternatives exist 🔸 unwilling to downsize their living space and move somewhere smaller 🔸 unlikely to try and influence others around them to behave more circularly 👉 Learn More: https://lnkd.in/dgyAxVPv . 💡 As part of the process of developing a joint model to analyze #EnergyFlows & #MaterialStocks in urban areas, the #CircEUlar partner INEGI driving science & innovation has currently concluded the estimation of material stocks in both #buildings & #mobility infrastructure for one of its case studies, the city of Porto. 👉 Globally, the jointly analysis of the geographical patterns of materials intensities suggests that certain development patterns are more material-intensive, and represents an important insight for #UrbanPlanning as they can inform #CircularityStrategies to avoid the material lock-in of urban areas, with an important focus on design. 🔔 #CircEUlar has just released a new report on the impact of #Digitalisation through #BuildingInformationModelling (BIM) on the drive towards the #CircularEconomy and #NetZero in Europe. Based on a total of 41 interviews with industry professionals across 11 countries, it shows a picture of wide variety in the use of design tools and construction automation. The study was conducted by Martin Burgess at the Environmental Change Institute (ECI), University of Oxford and highlights that digitalisation will be critical in reducing lifecycle #Emissions in future. ➡️ For More Information: https://lnkd.in/dTiAb5td
