"No. The answer is no." – Wopke Hoekstra This is what the European Commission has to say (again) about the calls to review the 2035 ICE phase-out. Policy predictability is essential to set the direction and provide confidence for investments. Our members make these investment decisions daily. They also know what our sector has to offer: The #EVcharging industry has the potential to deliver tangible macroeconomic benefits, with 222,000 jobs and €92 billion added to the EU’s economy by 2035. These milestones are within reach, if we stay the course. I’ve just come out of a meeting with ChargeUp Europe, the voice of the European EV charging industry, which includes charging point operators and hardware manufacturers. ⚡ We discussed the power of EV charging to boost Europe’s economy and electrify our roads. 🚧 We also discussed the many barriers facing the charging industry, especially around grid constraints. 💶 The EU is investing billions in EV charging infrastructure, smart grids, and innovative solutions but much more needs to be done. 🍃 In the first 100 days of this Commission, we’ll launch a Clean Industrial Deal to unlock more private investment and drive innovation in clean tech. 🇪🇺 Climate and economic prosperity go hand in hand. As Commissioner for Climate, Net Zero and Clean Growth, I’ll work with all stakeholders to create a thriving, competitive, low-carbon economy in the EU. --- Lucie Mattera - ChargeUp Europe Alexander Junge – bp Remco Samuels – EVBox Peter Badik – GreenWay Infrastructure Sofia Diakhate – Plugsurfing Mathieu Bonnet – Allego Axel Horst – Shell

🚗⚡ e-mobility works! In the latest spotlight on how our members are driving the #eMobility transition, we're turning to evway by Route220srl SB. 🌍 Founded in Milan in 2014, Route220 is a fantastic example of how e-mobility puts consumers first. Route220 created the EVWay app, connecting drivers to over 850,000 #EVcharging points across Italy and beyond through a comprehensive roaming system, making journeys across borders simpler and stress-free. They’ve also extended their consumer-focused approach to businesses with Fleet220, a company providing tailored solutions for corporate fleets, and to facilitate electric tourism and promote hospitality, publishing the first-ever EV Travel Guide in Europe. This is how e-mobility works: by delivering real, practical benefits to drivers and making the transition to electric vehicles a success for everyone. Europe’s transition to electric vehicles is at a critical moment. In a new op-ed for Euractiv, our secretary general Lucie Mattera joins Chris Heron (AVERE - The European Association for Electromobility) and Julia Poliscanova (she/her) (T&E) highlight what’s at stake for Europe in the global race for #eMobility. Their message is clear: Europe must stay the course on its 2025-2035 CO2 targets and deliver an ambitious automotive industrial strategy to compete globally. The op-ed underscores key steps for success: 🚗 A wave of affordable EVs under €25,000 entering the market in 2025 🔋 Stronger support for Europe’s battery value chain and local manufacturing ⚡ Accelerated grid connections to deploy #EVcharging infrastructure faster 💡 Lower energy costs and streamlined regulation to boost competitiveness 🌍 Stability and incentives to drive consumer demand. 🗳️ Next week, #EU political parties will decide their position ahead of the expected parliament resolution on the “automotive crisis”, sending a political signal on Europe’s #mobility transition. The message from the #EVcharging industry is clear: Policy predictability is key. Sticking to 2035 emissions targets will keep Europe on track to see macroeconomic growth from our sector. 💼 222,000 jobs by 2035 📈 €92 billion added to the EU’s economy 🔌 64 million #EV chargers installed across Europe These milestones are within reach, but we need to stay the course. We urge policymakers to make the right choice for Europe’s future: Stick to 2035 targets. Don’t turn back now. 🚗🔋POLITICO & Uber: Electrifying ride-hailing is key in driving the EV transition! On 18 November our Secretary General, Lucie Mattera, joined a panel to spotlight a key #EV trend: ride-hailing drivers are going electric 5️⃣ times faster than ordinary motorists. With higher average mileage, this delivers 4️⃣ times the #emissions benefits. Affordable EVs, creative EV charging partnerships with fleets, and smart incentives are crucial to keep this momentum going in the ride-hailing sector. This sector proves why the EU must stick to 2035 zero-emission targets. By backing high-impact transitions like this, we can accelerate the shift to #eMobility across vehicle use cases and secure a more competitive Europe. Missed the event? 📣 16th of december 2024 - The Path to Electrification: Businesses and Their Impact on the EU's Electric Fleet 📣 Our Premium Member AFRY is conducting a study in France on the electrification of corporate fleets. The green transition of corporate vehicles is essential to achieving transportation decarbonization goals, delivering both climate benefits and accelerating the electrification of the automotive fleet. However, the penetration rate of electric vehicles among professionals remains relatively low and slower than that of private individuals across Europe. In this context, ChargeUp Europe commissioned AFRY to model the impact of the pace of electrification of professional vehicles (excluding heavy-duty vehicles) on the overall electrification rate. CCSF, in partnership with AFRY, is organizing a conference on December 16th from 6:30 PM to 8:30 at CCSF. Ursula von der Leyen, Meet Your Commission! For this month’s #EVcharging infrastructure update, we’re taking a step back from our incoming Commissioners' hometowns. Our new team of Commissioners has just been decided, so what better time to take a Europe-wide perspective? As the EU accelerates its transition to #eMobility, the progress in EV charging infrastructure is unmistakable: ⚡ The number of public charging points in Europe has grown by 23.4% in 2024 so far, with over 180,000 new points installed ⚡ 26 out of 27 EU Member States already meet their AFIR fleet-based public charging infrastructure targets ⚡ New registrations of battery-electric cars increased by 2.4% to 124,907 units in October 2024 (source: European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA)) These numbers are encouraging to see - it’s clear that charging infrastructure is rolling out fast enough to take Europe’s #EVs in its stride!
