Legacy technology can hinder any digital journey. As NSW reaches a pivotal moment, Digital NSW is developing the NSW State of Legacy Report to tackle these issues for Government agencies. I think it effectively highlights the importance of addressing legacy technology challenges in NSW's digital journey. There will be no shortage of expert slide decks with historical analysis purporting to answer this question, backed up with sufficient evidence of industry expertise to cover a director’s back. Reality check! Australia’s corporate winners and losers will be determined by HOW boards and leadership teams anticipate and respond to the next Grey Swan moment and tackle the “unprecedented” consequences. This article is about applying for Board positions - but the insights are very relevant, valuable to anyone applying for a leadership role. We get hundreds of applications to join us. Often littered with errors and inaccuracies, failing to provide details specifically requested. Many who feel they are too good to put the effort into a covering letter. For us, your application speaks volumes. It is the best reflection we have of you, and if we should find the time to meet you. If you don't care about your application, you are unlikely to care about the client or your team. Where you have studied, and what jobs and responsibilities you have had, are activity. Showcase what you have achieved, adversity you have overcome, what you have learned, what you can do, your passions - not just your activity. Do you want to know if an article, white paper or resource was written or assisted by AI? The Institute of Directors in New Zealand has committed to placing this symbol on their AI assisted resources. Some AI image creation apps have watermarks or logo's to denote it's source. And recently newsrooms have been found to be using #AI and had to wrestle with their standards. I am not interested in having these AI warnings, as I will judge the brand attached or promoting the work. I trust Kirsten and the Institute of Directors team to put out good materials, and that that extends to anything they create with AI and chose to publish. If the quality is poor because of AI, I will lose trust in their brand. The same with the New Zealand Herald, if they promote or publish a poor quality article because of AI, I will judge their brand and trustworthiness. I see real value in images and video having watermarks which spread differently than text, but I will always look to the publisher, agent or organization pushing an article. The good or poor AI will still rely on their quality assurance and standards. What are your thoughts here? Do you like or find these sorts of triggers helpful?

The Services Australia Independent Advisory Board 📸- has now been in place for 6 months. As chair - I apologise for not communicating more frequently on our activities. This will change. Here are some fast facts: CHALLENGES 🔹 In May - Services Australia call wait times avg 25min - nb - this is the average …. many wait much longer 😔 🔹 about 9% of Australians are considered highly excluded from digital society - ie - we have to improve service delivery across digital and non digital channels OPPORTUNITIES 🔹 myGov has more than 860k sign ins each day 🔹 by comparison - Woolworths has about 700k online visits 🔹myGov connects people with up to 16 federal and state govt services eg Medicare and Centrelink and ATO With so many people in Australia ♥️ using myGov - we have an opportunity to make it the true front door for digital services. A big frustration - is that people have to share the same information eg change of address - multiple times to various depts. There is no privacy legislation to support myGov to allow people to have more control - eg - so they can consent to sharing a change of address to all depts ➡️ a true tell us once principle. 🟣 This post could go on forever - there are so many issues and challenges and opportunities - just wanted to report back - and let you know - I will keep you posted more regularly on these issues 🙏 Ps - thanks again to Minister Bill Shorten for giving me/us the opportunity to serve on this independent advisory panel 🙏
