How I ranked a Local SEO Website in Australia with just On-Page SEO There were 10+ keywords that the client want me to rank in Melbourne, Australia. I have checked Titles, Meta descriptions, and HTML tags with the help of Detailed SEO Extension and saw all are not optimized. Then I decided to do a website audit with the help of Screaming Frog, so I found that nothing was optimized as per the On-page SEO checklist. Without going here and there, let’s start with the step taken to optimize each page of the site. Title Page title plays a vital role in SEO because it forces users to click on your page in SERP or not. The main keyword should be in the Title and at the start. It is the bottom line of the page title in local SEO. And results can be seen in the attached screenshot. Meta Description It should be catchy but the main keyword should be in it in a natural way. Slug/Permalink The main keyword should be in the permalink of the page, for example; if you are optimizing a page for “Best Chinese restaurant in Sanger” then your URL will be abc. com/best-chinese-restaurant-in-sanger. HTML Tags (h1, h2, h3, h4, h5, h6) Here is my favorite part of optimizing any page. Let me tell you one thing, most of the pages in Local SEO are developed in page builders like Elementor or WP-Bakery. And mostly developers have less knowledge of SEO and HTML tags. While creating a page they always put all heading in H1 or H2 and this is not an SEO friendly practice. To check HTML tags without going into the editing phase, just install Detailed SEO Extension and see the structure of the headings. Only one h1 is enough for one page and headings should be highly optimized and it gives Google to understand the in a better way. Image Alt Tag If there are multiple images on a single page then their files name should not be the same, you should use the main keyword with support keywords in the image file name as well as in alt tags. Internal Linking Another important point in Local SEO but underestimated by most SEOs. Your service pages must be interlinked from the Homepage to the inner pages and services pages must be interlinked with each other. It manages the crawl budget, helps to build relevancy across the site, and boosts user experience. CTA In Local SEO, your main target is to grab leads or receive a live call to convert it into a sale. Let’s suppose your CTA button or form is at the end of each page, do you receive leads or call from potential buyers? The answer is no, but if you add it after the intro or after the title, it gives you huge benefits. So always try to add it on the top portion of the page. Technical SEO Tip: Export HTTP headers and timings of all resources on a web page in a few simple steps! 1️⃣ Right-click on the page and select "Inspect"(or Cmd+Shift+C) 2️⃣ Navigate to "Network" tab 3️⃣ Clean the cache and hit reload(or Cmd+Shift+R) 4️⃣ Right-click on any file and select "Save all as HAR with content" 5️⃣ Convert the file into .csv format and import to your sheets Congratulations! 👏 You have all HTTP headers and timings of every single resource on the web page 🤓 You can apply filters and check for tons of data! 💥 ⭐ Additional Tip: The prior file is actually quite messy 😖 To speed up the cleaning, you can ask ChatGPT to separate headers and timings into new columns 🚀
