She briefly worked with Data Agility in 2010-2012 as the Cerner (Oracle) Project Manager for the Peninsula Health EMR implementation before joining our team as a Senior Consultant in 2023. in 2004 Mastercard developed #PCI to confront the extraordinary fraud of credit cards. This was a standard that evolved mandatory #security protections like #encrypting/hashing credit card numbers and many other data handling and storage protections. Whilst cumbersome, PCI DDS along with FIPS Has been widely adopted by financial and banking organisations. Most government bodies also comply. Sadly, we haven't adopted or developed similar mandates for those storing #credentials (whether physical or digital). Adding a card number, simply means that attributes are stored next to the #licence number and is as easily stolen and shared on the Dark web. We have a significant policy and legislative gap. Storing biometric data and templates without these protections in the same data sets is also occuring. The other challenge is the design of our identity ecosystem. The federated model/centralised means we continue to store this data in significant honey pots. Whilst the #Authentication doesn't need to carry #PII attributes, If you want to provide customers with a "no wrong door" experience, relying party store, and persist these attributes in the customer account to provide that experience (and for other not so good reasons). Over the next month, I'll document my learnings and tips on how to transition from a #federated model to #Distributed, #Decentralised. This is where the customer is the IDP, Attribute provider and exchange, removing the need of the #honeypots. The source of the issue is not strictly #identity, but data culture around PII driven by eligibility, compliance and a culture of using the identifiers for other purposes. #digital #VC #mDL

Australia is moving to regulate AI in healthcare! A recent ban on AI tools in Perth hospitals has raised important questions about patient privacy. There are concerns about hackers accessing patient records. The South Metropolitan Health Service (SMHS) has prohibited using AI tools like ChatGPT for patient-related work. While it’s crucial to protect patient privacy, this situation shows the need for better regulations for AI. The Australian Medical Association (AMA) is pushing for national guidelines on AI in healthcare. We need to find a balance. As the population ages and birth dates decline, how can we improve efficiency of healthcare in Australia? Through building Xplor and Kismet I’ve come across so many layers of admin burden that can easily be automated with technology. We should be spending our time and effort with people we love, not navigating complex healthcare systems. Policy makers should be considering the human at the end of the system in their design. How do you think we can make the healthcare system easier to navigate?

I have had several conversations in past x months around Care management systems, that made me think to do a write up on feature comparison of various Software available. On behalf of Dedalus and Amazon Web Services (AWS) we thank the 60+ attendees who joined us in Perth to explore the potential for Digital to elevate and speed Australia's participation and status as a leading Clinical Trial and Medical Research destination. With the Department of Health (WA Health) enjoying one of the most unified statewide and long-term patient-centric datasets in Australia an expert panel (and many in the audience) were quizzed on the challenges and opportunities for Digital to play a greater role in leveraging current data assets to speed awareness and accessibility for citizens that could benefit from lifesaving drug trials, irrespective of their postcode. Dedalus introduced its Trials4Care platform, designed to assist in this and further complementing our long involvement in digital pharmacy and medication management solutions. Mario P. facilitated an expert panel including Nicola Ware from Ramsay Health Care , Katrina Orr from WA Country Health Service, Tracey Wilkinson from MTPConnect, WA Life Sciences Innovation Hub and Jayden Rogers the CEO of Linear Clinical Research Ltd. Thank you to all our panel members for your participation. A fantastic job Mario P. for engaging the panel and the many key industry attendees in the audience to create a night of discussion and networking and an encouragement to look above the obstacles to the significant opportunities that a stronger Clinical Trial capability holds out for so many. Among the many themes, three that resonated with me as they apply to so many opportunities for better Digital healthcare were 1) the need to free up clinician time and 2) better, more proactive engagement of the patient (and all carers) in the care journey, irrespective of demographic and 3) Digital is one of the very few options a country like Australia has to deal with our global location, distance and population distribution.
