    The Australian Sports Medal was awarded in 2000, the year of the Sydney Olympic and Paralympic games, to those who contributed to Australia's sporting excellence in 2000. The medal recognised the efforts of a range of Australians, including former competitors, coaches, sports scientists, office holders and those who maintained sporting facilities and services. I was awarded this honor for outstanding achievement as an athlete across multiple sports.

I retired from the Brigade at 18 with the organisations highest honour, along with the rank of Sergeant.
