Sounds like an internal primary or secondary index 'skew' between different systems (or just a bug). Can happen when restoring records to a database in live use when changing a schema, as the precise order that sets the foreign key mappings used by the other system will not match... This might even be a stale cache somewhere.. Hence why you should always use synthetic keys when maintaining a relationship between two distinct databases, never use internal primary or secondary keys, just asking for trouble... #databreach #australia #databases #integrity

We need to generate OAuth2 Clients in our user base so that an API can be accessed and so we referenced a design we did several years ago in the infancy of Open Banking in Australia. It is based on Open Standards of Dynamic Client Registration (https://lnkd.in/gxisK22e), utilizing a custom CFSSL (https://lnkd.in/gPJEs3ca) endpoint to generate EIDAS certificates. The Public Key is stored on a endpoint accessible by the OAuth2 service, and the Software Statement Assertion is generated with those details and signed by the Trust Software Publisher and is made available for download against with the Private Key details. The PKI Material is generated within the browser so the Directory cannot store it, and it sends the Certificate Signing Request for signing against the CFSSL instance. Only the public key is stored. An example of the CSR is available at https://lnkd.in/gspR3RrB A developer can rotate keys and their JWKS endpoint is updated to include the new details, allowing them to use both the current and new Private Keys in their requests. Once they have migrated over to the new they can revoke the current certificate to make the new the current (confusing, but it works) However we were horrified to be told that we were using an existing design from another projects that we had briefly worked on. We want to assure people that we do not reuse any client developed work, and our design is based on designs from several years ago. There has been a lot of hype around the Rust programming language. Most articles and blogs I read are heavy on promises, and a little light on testing. I’ve done a simple comparison between a lambda written in Python vs the same lambda written in Rust. Both use the official AWS SDKs. Boto3 is well established but the Rust SDK is new. The official release was about 8 months ago at reinvent. I’ve load tested both using K6. Why? Well, because I want to see for myself if I really do get the 8x improvement in performance and equivalent reduction in cost that people promote. What were the results? We certainly face our own Cloud sovereignty challenges in New Zealand, some of which will be mitigated by the establishment of local Data Regions. The big winner in August was the demand for IT professionals. A big jump, up 16%, driven by large double digit increases in all states except NSW and QLD. While public sector recruitment was strong, the private sector demand was driving the index this month. This can be considered a good omen as it often indicates companies investing for productivity improvement and efficiency gains - only time will tell. #recruitment #management #humanresources

In the wake of recent events, the importance of robust data backup and replication strategies cannot be overstated. It's crucial to foresee worst-case scenarios and fortify your business against them. Unfortunately, even with cross-region replication and backup measures in place, vulnerabilities emerged, as evidenced by recent incident. Investing in third-party providers for regular backups is a smart move, serving as a lifeline during unforeseen crises like the recent May Day events. However, the question arises: why did immutable storage solutions, typically relied upon by cloud providers to safeguard data integrity, fail to prevent data loss and subscription deletion on Google Cloud? Normally, Cloud providers utilize immutable storage solutions that prevent data from being modified or deleted for a specified retention period, providing an additional layer of protection against accidental deletions. Why was not this a case for Google cloud and data was also deleted along with subscription? This underscores the necessity of diversifying backup strategies, including leveraging traditional offline storage options. When entrusted with managing substantial funds like a $125bn investor's portfolio, reliance solely on cloud providers becomes untenable.
