Conducted research into the protective and disease promoting roles of the innate immune factor, interferon-gamma, in human responses to Plasmodium falciparum malaria. Research was carried out in the laboratory of Dr. Louis Schofield and was supported by an NHMRC Dora Lush PhD Scholarship.

Completed a Bachelor of Science Degree with a one year Honours research position in the laboratory of Professor Geoff McFadden. During this time I investigated the biochemical functions of a specialised organelle known as the apicoplast, in the human malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum. I was awarded a place on the Dean’s Honours List, the Bruce Knox Honours Prize, a Janet Clarke Hall Society Scholarship, the Exhibition Prize in Botany III, and the E.F. Millar Exhibition Prize in Botany II.
