You're in the spotlight and the pressure is on to say the "right thing" and come across coherent, engaging and confident. What do you do? 🚀 Whether you're delivering a keynote, pitching to investors or speaking to the media, high-pressured situations require accessing the flow state 💥 When you're in your head, trying to micro-manage your voice and words, it's impossible to bring your best self to the table. You can't think clearly and creatively, let alone speak clearly and powerfully. That's when the nerves set in and you're easily distracted. High performers from all disciplines (sport, music, dance, theatre), know that the only way to deliver at the highest level is to access the flow state. The flow state is where you're fully immersed in what you're doing and in the present moment. You're not worrying about what others are thinking, what you look like, what you need to say...you're in a high state of flow, trust and surrender. How do you get there? 🚀 The first stage is having mastery over your voice, so you trust your voice to deliver NO MATTER WHAT. When I was training my voice for big performances, my coach would get me to run up and down the stairs to get my heart rate up first (to mimic nerves), and then sing! Vocal mastery takes time because it requires an embodiment of new more empowering vocal habits. This is both a physical and emotional process. 🚀 The second stage is learning to centre and ground yourself quickly. This is where meditation and breathwork can be very powerful. It trains you to go within, connect to your heart and the infinite, creative part of yourself. Once upon a time… Many summers ago… we’ve all grown up with stories that we’ve told and stories that we’ve been told. The Storytelling Canvas is one of my favourite back of the pocket approaches to bring alignment over time. Alluring promises of breakthroughs abound but there’s much more theorising than on-the-ground progress.
