This is a very interesting article and read on employee mobility and employment legalities. As someone who has worked with highly diverse and dispersed organisations; the number one priority is to engage an international payroll provider who specialise in such complex employment frameworks. According to a recent survey by the Australian HR Institute (AHRI), a worrying trend is emerging with workers avoiding becoming people managers. Fifty-eight per cent of the 106 HR professionals surveyed in a snap poll by the Australian HR Institute agreed that more employees were turning down people management or leadership roles than before. According to the report, the reasons why are varied. Some of it is linked to the shift to remote and hybrid working, with recruiters reporting that some candidates do not want to take on managerial roles because they fear that they will have to come into the office more frequently if they do. This – combined with a perceived lack of support for new managers and the belief that management is more difficult when teams are split between their homes and the office – has eroded the appeal of becoming a manager. But it’s also true that becoming a manager is no longer the only way to climb the ladder at some companies, meaning fewer people with no interest or proficiency in leading others feel compelled to go into management just for the money. One solution is for companies to provide current and future leaders with training to teach them the skills and develop their leadership capabilities, as well as offer more coaching and support to help them deal with the challenges that come with managing people. Taking Risks - Consulting/Coaching/Supervision I wear all three hats, not at the same time and yet I know in my role as a consultant my training as a coach and supervisor will shape how I consult and it does. Quotes from my stakeholder "Never worked or met anyone like you" Quotes from one of my interviews "You sound like a maverick" Yes, I don't work in the usual way and yet I aware of my own shortcomings. I know that I will not be everyone's cup of tea. I share this with those work with in terms of how I can be: - Honest - Reliable - Good quality of work - Excellent communicator - Compassionate/empathetic (to a point) Other ways I can be challenging: - Telling it how it is - Challenging the thinking and ways of working - Holding myself and others accountable - Naming things that others don't want to name. - Balancing the need to focus in the human process as well as the task. Yes I do hesitate, I have doubts and sometimes I hold them to take the risks. Sometimes they land and other times they don't.
