It's time for GiveOUT 2024 and we're putting forward an ambitious project to create a sustainable model for Regional and Rural Rainbow Parent Playgroups. Rainbow Parents have identified existing playgroup models as a barrier to support. The parents they meet at playgroups mostly assume people are heterosexual and that people will play traditional gender roles in raising their little people. This doesn't work for Rainbow Families who are looking for people who understand their parenting journey and so that their kids can see that there are other families just like theirs. We'll be working with Academics and Industry Experts to understand what works best, then we'll work with Rainbow Families in Ballarat to build the model. We're then going to take all of the things we learn and create a set of guidelines that people can use to set up their own Rainbow Parents Playgroups. We're aiming to raise $10,000. This funding will be matched, bringing the total of our project up to $20,000. This funding will pay for the initial review and then the costs for Rainbow Parents, academics and industry experts to build and implement the new model. If you want to work in Aboriginal Affairs (anything that impacts Aboriginal people), you need to learn the language of the Aboriginal people you impact. Do not use and apply your Mainstream Western Lens influenced by your Mainstream industry/ profession. You must develop your Aboriginal Community Len's first. If you apply your Mainstream Western Lens only to your decision making that impacts Aboriginal people, you will fail.

Government Grant funding between $80,000 and $400,000 to support projects which prevent technology facilitated abuse of women. Projects should be focussed on the prevention of online harm and enhanced safety for women and children. For example projects may: - Aim to change community attitudes and behaviours, - Focus on the perpetrators of technology-facilitated abuse, or - Seek to protect and support women and children. Up to $600,000 of the total funding is allocated to organisations delivering projects that focus on prevention of tech-based abused of First Nations women. Eligible applicants must: - Hold an ABN. - Be registered for GST. - Have an Australian bank account. - Be a legal entity. - Be a non-government organisation, NFP or charitable organisation registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profit commission. - Be financially viable. Eligible applicants for priority funding as a First Nations focussed project must: - Be an Aboriginal Controlled Community Organisation (ACCO), or - Be an organisation that is primarily focussed on achieving outcomes for First Nations communities, or - Be an organisation that is partnering with one of these eligible entities. We've just received the latest report on mental health and wellbeing for the Australian music and performing arts sector from Support Act and Swinburne Centre for Social Impact. The stats are still staggering. While we have improved compared to the 2022 report, the levels of psychological distress are still four times that of the general population, with psychological safety and costs of living as the main drivers. Reports like these can sometimes leave us feeling hopeless, but I think it is essential to know where we are at so we can take strategic steps to address the causes that are driving those numbers. Having agency and a planning pathway to our goals will give us hope (Snyder et al. 2002). So here are five steps to make a change: 1. Increase wellbeing literacy for your workplace by communicating the importance of workplace wellbeing 2. Get an anonymous workplace wellbeing assessment 3. Co-create a workplace wellbeing strategic plan that includes how you would manage psychosocial risks as a team 4. Implement the plan, one action at a time 5. Assess again, evaluate implementation and tweak the plan accordingly We are here to make positive systemic changes to our creative arts industry. Another success story for one of our brilliant ongoing clients. ⭐️⭐️🔥🔥⭐️⭐️ The Aboriginal Business Development Program Grant is a great opportunity for majority Aboriginal owned businesses to kick-start or boost the business. Its available for a wide range of business needs. The most important thing to consider when applying for any grant is whether your proposal addresses the strategic intent of the funder. When organisations are willing to develop thier business case or project plan to address the grant requirements, the chances of getting a yes increase exponentially. This sometimes means fining the right words to explain the plan and other times it means being flexible about the outcomes your plan is trying to achieve. We have helped organisations do both, with a high level of success. Thoughts: Do you think we should have metrics around employing people with a disability? *Measure Progress: Track how well organisations are doing in hiring and retaining employees with disabilities. *Identify Barriers: Pinpoint areas where improvements are needed, such as workplace accessibility or recruitment practices. *Promote Inclusivity: Demonstrate commitment to diversity and inclusion, fostering a more inclusive work environment. *Compliance: Ensure adherence to legal requirements and standards for employing people with disabilities. *Benchmarking: Allow organisation’s to compare their performance against industry standards and peers. Such metrics can help create a more equitable workforce and drive positive change in employment practices. Items such as training,awareness programs and action planning are practical examples.

Everyday Actions That Build Resilience We've all faced challenges, but what really allows some people to withstand hardship? In her TedX Talk "The Three Secrets of Resilient People, Dr Lucy Hone uncovered insights that defy common assumptions. Through her own tragedy and scientific findings, Lucy discovered resilience isn't a rare trait - it involves ordinary yet profoundly impactful daily strategies. Accepting realities out of our control, focusing on factors we can influence, and maintaining gratitude were identified as key approaches. It's World Creativity & Innovation Week! If you don't already, follow my friend and Australian Ambassador for World Creativity & Innovation Week, the wonderful Wade Kingsley, The Creative Coach. This week, I'll be sharing a few tips for how to boost your creativity! Today's tip: Take a quick cat nap today! 💤 While research has shown that sleep improves creativity, a quick nap during the day can boost your creativity and can be strategically used to help you solve a specific problem! When napping, that early stage as we drift off to sleep is considered "the sweet spot" and can be harnessed to help us find creative solutions to problems. In many cases, I jump out of bed with a new idea and a boost of motivation that helps me move something forward. If you rely on coffee to keep you going through the day, run your own experiment: if you can, try switching your coffee for a quick nap and see how it goes!
