Contracts & Reporting Specialist – Electricity System Operator - excellent job opportunity! Transpower owns and operates the national grid, a critical utility that runs the full length of New Zealand from Kaikohe to Bluff. As System Operator, we operate the wholesale electricity market and ensure supply (provided by generators) matches demand (by electricity users). We are also responsible for ensuring New Zealand's electricity system is reliable, competitive, and innovative as we play an integral role in the planning of New Zealand's electricity future. Our core purpose is to empower the energy future for New Zealand - a future that delivers a net-zero carbon economy and a reliable and secure electricity system. The Market Services group supports real-time delivery of the System Operator service and provides information to enable a market response to evolving conditions, including risks to security of supply, procuring specialist market products such as ancillary services, and supports stakeholder engagement with the System Operator. The group also contributes to market development initiatives and is responsible for System Operator strategy, performance, reporting, and regulatory contract management. Read more about the System Operator on our website https://lnkd.in/grfixQgg and here https://lnkd.in/dzJHnqZF About the opportunity As a key member of the Market Services team, engaging across the Operations division, including with the senior leadership team, you will lead the preparation of system operator performance and planning reports. You will support the Market Services Manager to provide commercial management of contracts related to Transpower's delivery of the system operator service, including the System Operator Service Provider Agreement (SOSPA) with the Electricity Authority and contracts for ancillary services, load, and weather forecasting and other professional services. You will work with a range of stakeholders, including regulators, service providers, and contractual counterparties, Transpower's wider Market Services group and other System Operator teams to coordinate commercial and contractual arrangements, including with the Electricity Authority and a range of ancillary service providers. With a focus on delivery of the System Operator service strategy, business planning, and performance reporting, you will ensure the reports and information you produce is accurate, compliant, useful, and accessible, while supporting System Operator transparency and wide participation in electricity markets for energy and ancillary services. Hiring is Hot For Renewables, But Retention Needs To Be A Priority. The renewable energy job market in Australia is firing on all cylinders, with over 28,000 new jobs projected by 2030. When demand is high and supply is low, hiring is key but retaining your talent is even more important. We only have to look at the huge turnover the Tech market experienced in 2021-2023. Outside the normal boring cliches, what's your number one tip? My tip is to have a proper check in with your team members before they go on Xmas leave, give them a platform to talk and really really listen....are they happy? What’s your secret sauce for retaining top talent in renewables? Pop your answer in the comments.

Powerlink Queensland delivers critical infrastructure and transmission services, connecting Queenslanders to a world-class energy future. Our transmission network extends 1,700km from north of Cairns to the New South Wales border, and comprises 15,345 circuit kilometres of transmission lines and 147 substations. ...But what is a transmission line? 🤷♀️ ⚡ A transmission line is a powerline which is capable of carrying large amounts of electricity at high voltages. Transmission lines are larger and taller than the everyday distribution powerlines, which deliver electricity to our homes and businesses. Transmission lines are normally built on tall steel towers or concrete and steel poles. 💡 What is a substation? The role of a substation is to monitor and control the flow, stability, quality and voltage of electricity on the transmission lines connected to the facility. It transforms the voltage of electricity and switches electricity between the different transmission lines and transformers on the grid. A substation is not a power station – it does not generate electricity. Summer is just around the corner, and soon many of us will be jetting off for our holidays. While it's essential to take that time off to recharge, it can complicate recruitment processes. Here are some key considerations for hiring during the summer months to minimise delays: 1. Be flexible and realistic with your timelines. With both you and potential candidates likely to be on holiday, expect the process to take longer than the usual 4-6 weeks. 2.Identify key decision-makers and their availability. If multiple stages involve different individuals, ensure you know who else is crucial to the process and when they will be available. 3.Plan ahead. Consider upcoming holidays as you kick off recruitment efforts, and communicate any potential delays with HR and your recruitment team. We've successfully helped many businesses navigate summer hiring with minimal slowdowns, and we can help you too. Reach out to me or my colleagues Tom Wilding or Abbie McMaster and we can have a chat!

Are you noticing a Growing Demand for Land Acquisitions Professionals in Australia’s Renewable Energy Sector? I've observed an increasing need for top talent in this field. Not only are specialists hard to find, but they also face unique challenges that make their expertise indispensable and sought after. What makes Land Acquisitions so complex? Regulatory Frameworks: Navigating a web of local, state, and federal regulations requires deep knowledge of environmental and planning laws that vary across regions like NSW, VIC, and QLD. Stakeholder Management: Balancing commercial objectives with the concerns of landowners and local communities is essential for success in renewable energy projects. Negotiation Skills: Securing prime locations at fair prices while handling legal and zoning obstacles demands exceptional negotiation abilities. Finding individuals with a blend of regulatory understanding, community engagement, and negotiation skills is no small feat. The dynamic nature of this industry often requires a unique background that traditional property acquisition professionals may not possess. However, many are successfully transitioning into renewables from roles in planning, surveying, and real estate development. If you're currently working in Land Acquisitions in renewable energy or are curious to learn more about this exciting field, I’d love to chat! What skills do you think are most crucial for success in this role? #RenewableEnergy #LandAcquisitions #CleanEnergy #Sustainability #HiringTrends #Recruitment #EnergyTransition #SolarFarms

🔋 2024 Australian Renewables Update 🔋 Australia is on track to add 7GW of new renewable energy generation capacity in 2024, thanks to increasing investments in large-scale wind, solar projects, and the huge growth of rooftop PV systems. 🚀 According to the latest Clean Energy Regulator report, in the first half of 2024: 🟢1.8GW of large-scale renewable projects reached shovel-ready status 🟢1.5GW of large-scale capacity was approved, with an additional 2.5GW under assessment 🟢Rooftop solar is set to hit 3.1GW this year, with 0.76GW installed in Q2 alone, a 6% increase from last year! These promising figures reflect growing momentum in our transition to clean energy, but there’s more work ahead to reach 82% renewables by 2030.
