Over the next five weeks, we'll be sharing some key insights from the Survey.   🎯 Question 1: Who is primarily responsible for API development in your organisation? 👉 Highlights: 🔸'Everyone builds APIs' was the top answer (44.3%) to the question of who is in charge of API development in their organisation, indicating a trend toward shared responsibility among teams. However, this can present several challenges, such as inconsistent standards, security vulnerabilities, and API sprawl. 🔸At the same time, 41.8% of respondents shared that their platform engineering teams are primarily responsible for API development. Google Cloud issues led to the deletion of infrastructure in multiple regions of the Australian fund UniSuper, which has $125 billion under management. UniSuper had two different data centers, and, as I understand, they decided to cancel one of them. They had two different subscriptions/accounts there. The issue with Google Cloud was that it deleted both of them. The scale of the issue led to a joint statement from UniSuper CEO Peter Chun and Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian. Luckily, UniSuper had backups and Azure. What's even more important, at such scales, the infrastructure is not actually deleted; it's marked as deleted, and only after some time does the actual deletion occur. Google is now working on recovering UniSuper's services.

Cloud outages are not uncommon, but hyperscalers typically resolve these issues quickly. The current UniSuper cloud outage on Google Cloud in Australia is taking an unusually long time to resolve, which negatively impacts Google Cloud's reputation in the region.
