There are up to 7 views available on any game & most of the communication, logistics, planning etc can be done remotely. Accept for potentially 1 week (at the most) a month during Super Rugby he may be needed in Aus. & 25 - 50% of Australian games per week will be in NZ anyway. Ditto Mick Cron. Once the Wallabies begin in-camp, obviously the time in Aus is more permanent, but for the 1st 6 months it can be conceivably 1 week a month. The Wallabies may lose the next 2 games as the opposition is definitely a step up. However, there is observable improvement in reaction speed - off the ground, off the ball and in skills in general in executing closer to the opposition etc etc. This hasn't been observable for some time - particularly during the Rennie years. How to pay for it & ensure that there is continuity moving forward - flick the current Assistants (except for Cron) & bring in the Super Head Coaches to fill the other Assistant Roles. This is not a disparagement against the current Assistants - but Economics. Plus 3 of the Head Coaches were regarded as World Class in their respective Unit areas prior to progressing to Head Coach status. Kiss - Defence, MacKellar - Lineout & Maul & Larkham - Attack. Two of those Coaches are already on the RA dime with the takeover of the Waratahs & Brumbies respectively. It will also allow for current Super Assistants to get the Workplace learning that definitely assisted with MacKellar's transition from Assistant to Head Coach at the Brumbies - when (then Head Coach) Larkham was with the Wallabies. I'd be surprised if the next Head Coach didn't come from this group so get them in there for the Lions series & in the lead up to 2027 & build them into World Class International Coaches with 3 years of further exposure, in that environment & with 30 - 40 more tests on invaluable experience at that intensity. All the while, they continue to work on their Head Coach Skills at Super Level. It's not as if it hasn't occurred before - in 2015 the year that the Wallabies made the World Cup Final - Cheika, Larkham, Grey & Ledesma were all Coaching in Super Rugby as well as the Wallabies. Alternatively, continue to have duplication in roles & costs & asking Community Rugby departments across Australia to find multi-millions of dollars worth of savings to pay for it!

@westperthfc THANK YOU & RESPECT ❤️ If this is true and not a typo this is fantastic & shows appreciation for my profession & how critical this role is at ALL football clubs 💯 80-100k FULL TIME @ semi pro sport in Australia 🇦🇺 is unheard of & it’s more than more pro sport/AFL would pay in most positions LOL 🤣 I have said for years most clubs know it’s all economics & supply vs demand when it comes to these paid jobs at club level 💯 They know supply of coaches is stupidly high & demand (ie paid positions) is low and as such can pay peanuts because if coach X doesn’t take the paid terms coach A will 🤦‍♂️ There is always someone who will take the position for low pay or free for “experience” or getting their foot in the door 🤦‍♂️ moreover, clubs know how many people want to wear that AFL club logo on their chest to validate their position in their profession LOL (chasing the tracksuit) because apparently the best work in the AFL 😉 I would love to see more clubs at ALL levels of football actually investing & paying a decent wage (see how I said decent not stupidly high lol) to physical prep coaches who play such a vital role in their football program (you would think keeping your best players healthy and playing would be important to a club - best players playing = greater chance of winning) & building a culture of high performance & professional preparation 🙌 Since day 1 of establishing @woodfordssc all I have wanted to see was clubs & athletes paying us coaches pay that we deserve for the education & experience we have 💪 Let’s hope we see more of this in the future & more coaching paid roles that actually pay well (who would of thought ? Lol you should get paid if you are good at your job lol) #changingthegame

FC Bayern München signing Nestory Irankunda has had a successful individual season to farewell Adelaide United Football Club and their fans . We can see his attacking value (1.05) is way above average and more than compensates for his negative defensive value (-0.19). As an attacking midfielder (AM), 0.41 is also on the higher side. Beyond scoring, he has begun to facilitate a lot more. His success rate of finding a killer pass is quite high and if he can increase his volume of playing that final ball it will make him that much more dangerous to defences. At 0.73, his WR or actions per minute is around average just as his successful actions per minute is (SWR). A lot more to come from this young player. He loves the ball at his feet and taking on defenders before rifling in a powerful shot to test the keeper. If he can find more balance between shooting and playing a pass, he will be even more of a handful for defenders. He has played out wide a fair amount even though crossing is at this stage a weakness of his. A more central role or cutting in from out wide will yield more success for him so it’ll be on defenders to keep him wide. He puts in effort on defending and has some success but frustration and over-exuberance can occasionally see him give up fouls and miss tackles. Overall, a very dangerous attacking option

As we transition from NBL1 to the NBL it’s a good time to take a look at what keywords are talked about the most amongst community clubs. A few things really stand-out in the data..... No great surprise that “MVP” is the most mentioned and most engaging term we tracked. It is surprising (?) that “Defence” is talked about a lot more than “Offence” to the tune of over 3:1. Also, what gives with the ubiquitous “3-Pointer”? It's mentioned a lot less than we thought but when it is, it does really well for post-performance? Looking through a commercial lens we’d recommend that clubs align sponsors with MVP awards on a game or seasonal basis. Is your club ready for the change in reporting requirements? From the 2023-24 income year, non-charitable not-for-profits (NFPs) with an active ABN are required to lodge an annual NFP self-review return to self-assess income tax exemption. Where a club has self-assessed as income tax exempt entity on the basis it has been established for the encouragement of a game or sport, these new reporting requirements will need to be met. #notforprofits #clubs #tax

Watching Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii last weekend got me thinking. As a player who played 1st team rugby at 14, played his first NRL game at 17 and on Saturday, played his first test match for Australia without having played a professional rugby union game, he’s clearly a massive talent……. What’s different though? What allowed him to be so good he got Player of the Match? Aside from skill. Perhaps the way he approached the game. Cognitive diversity within a pitch where everyone else thought differently? Diversity is mentioned everywhere we look at the moment and rightly so. But I think for the most part we think of gender, race and sexuality as creating a more diverse community. Athletes can bring a HUGE amount of cognitive diversity and add a massive amount to the perspective and thought processes you use with your workplace to solve issues. FutureProof Pro believes wholeheartedly that business can leverage the different approaches that athletes may come approach delivering outcomes. So many businesses engage in sport commercially and through sponsorship. It would be incredibly interesting to understand if the same businesses had thought beyond ‘the norm’, the way normal commercial partnerships are created, to explore the depth to which they could create even more value across sport and their businesses. Very few have. AFL - Australian Football League clubs are champions of succession planning. How? Because every single day during the AFL season, 18 clubs think about and communicate 'selection'. They ask themselves important questions that are purely focused on the performance of their team - which is bigger than the individual. The players are under permanent watch. Everything is scrutinised and assessed in the name of performance. Performance is measured by the scoreboard and it always tells the truth. Everyone can see it. Succession decisions are ultimately made so a team/club can be in front on the scoreboard on Grand Final day. To win the premiership cup. Last Saturday's Grand Final, we saw the Brisbane Lions defeat the Sydney Swans by 60 points. Congratulations to the Lions on winning the 2024 premiership and their coach Chris Fagan on a wonderful victory and amazing season. The scoreboard vindicated their succession decisions - some were made very recently. For example, Lions' ruckman Oscar McInerney suffered a 'double dislocation' of his shoulder in the preliminary final (the week before the Grand Final) and was ruled out for medical reasons. We all saw Oscar's selfless reaction to the win despite not being able to play the match himself. Well done Oscar - your whole approach is 'team first'. Darcy Fort took Oscar's place in the side and performed extremely well. One player out - one player in. Practical succession. For the good of the team. Not all succession decisions are as straightforward, but they should always be communicated sensitively and arrived at via a sensible process. The joy and excitement on Chris Fagan's face is wonderful to see in this photograph taken on the Melbourne Cricket Ground after the grand final win. He looks so happy. Years of hard work, sacrifice, tough conversations, hard selection calls, injuries, suspensions, unexpected losses, lack of sleep, time on planes and in airports, media scrutiny and public criticism that come with the job, look like they have been worth it. To achieve the ultimate - a premiership. Succession in families and businesses is worth doing properly, just like it is in football. By approaching succession using the same principles, success can be achieved and heartache can be avoided. Is your sports club looking into the future? A key factor that sports clubs need to consider when strategic planning is the future trends of the county and how these will impact on how we cater for our players, coaches, administrators and every other connected stakeholder. Population projections in New Zealand predict we may reach 6 million people in the next decade or two. Add to this the regional migration trends of residents moving out of the main centres and we could have a very different looking sports system in years to come. Commitment to Building Strong Minds in AFL On & Off the Field On The Mark Coaching and the MPT Method has now made it’s presence in AFL. Working closely with the U19s and Premier Senior AFL Team at the UTS Bats - UTS Sport on our five week mindset shift program. These groups are committed to themselves and the team, not just focusing on the ‘Hardware’ (Physical Strength) but to ensure the ‘Software’ (Mental Strength) is worked on equally, if not more importantly. The groups have dived deep into the MPT Method and the relationship between Mindset, Performance and Team, and how Emotions play into this relationship on and off the field. The initial session has supported players and coaches to open their minds to what’s possible and the tools and resources to help get them to their desired outcome. We’ve covered important mental skills topics such as: 1. Bouncing back from Mistakes 2. Controlling Emotions 3. Internal Dialogue (Inner Voice) - Silencing the Inner Critic The MPT Method, backed by Sports Psychology is now across AFL, Rugby Union and Rugby League in NSW/ACT. It’s fantastic to see coaches and athletes embracing the importance of this in their sporting careers and personal lives. Keep upgrading the ‘Software’ to enable the ‘Hardware’ to operate at peak levels consistently. I look forward to continuing to work with the UTS Bats, and delivering the MPT Method. 🏉 Reducing high contacts relies on punishing the perpetrator but are we just elevating the risks? Recent incidents in the AFL have ignited a crucial conversation about player safety in Australian Rules Football. While reactive measures like suspensions/return to play timelines have been effective, the question remains, is there a more proactive approach available? Since the implementation of rules penalizing head contact in 2007, players have been caught between the drive to win and the imperative to stay safe. This has sometimes led to risky behaviours, deviating from traditional coaching cues, and putting players at greater risk of head injuries. But what if we shifted our focus from visual outcomes to individual responsibility? By holding players accountable for actions that increase the risk of head contact (attacking a GB head on, ducking into a tackle, dropping the knees etc.), would we create a fairer and safer playing environment? Critics may question the practicality of umpires assessing intent, as well as the precarious step of placing greater blame on those who have suffered the physical outcome. But following the 2012 findings from Purdue, that CTE can develop despite no concussions, would playing into the more innate instinct to protect oneself be more attainable than external duty of care that goes against the intent to win? Since 2007 in the WAFL, high-contact incidents are the #1 most prevalent type of free kick in all men grades, and #2 in females, reminding us of the urgency to act. With around 1,584 high-risk scenarios for head contact per season in the AFL alone (4 per team per game, for 198 games per year – AFL data 1992 to 2023), the cumulative effect of sub-concussive blows cannot be understated. These estimates alone ignore the potential for blows in trainings as well. As stewards of the sport, the AFL sets the tone for safety standards across all levels. So, in our efforts to prioritize player wellbeing and preserve the essence of the game, can we rethink and aim for a more proactive approach?
