About us

Wellways Australia is a leading national mental health and disability support organisation with services in Queensland, ACT, NSW, Victoria and Tasmania. We work with a diverse range of people, their families and carers to identify needs and goals to build good lives in the community This includes creating a home, getting a job and building meaningful relationships. We also deliver services to people with multiple, complex needs and often do this in partnership with clinical services, health support agencies and government. Our services are informed by current evidence on mental health, rehabilitation and community inclusion, together with an understanding of people’s lived experience – what works for them. We are a registered NDIS service provider. Our knowledgeable staff have the right community connections. We offer: support co-ordination, group based activities, assistance to access community, skills development, assistance with household tasks and personal care, housing and tenancy, help with budgeting and travel training. Many of our staff draw from their own experience of mental health issues to provide peer support in services, education courses, advocacy workshops and our advice and referral Helpline. Our commitment to advocacy is central. We consult with consumers, carers, government and local business to ensure people have better opportunities to get well, stay well and fully participate in the community without stigma. • We went behind the scenes of our traineeships and got the inside scoop from Earn and Learn trainee, Paul Sokalski, who made a bold career shift from seven years in online safety and digital risk intelligence to the rewarding field of mental health. While completing his Certificate IV in Mental Health and AOD (Alcohol and Other Drugs), Paul is gaining hands-on experience in the Service Navigation and Well Connected programs in Geelong. “The work-study balance allowed me to gain practical experience while learning about the industry,” Paul shares. “It’s been a fantastic experience, and I have no regrets.” Curious to learn more about Paul’s journey and how the Earn and Learn traineeship, now in its second year, can set you on the path to a career in mental health? • It's so great to see Ingrid Amann, Regional Manager Eastern Mental Health Services, in Singapore, sharing her expertise at #BICOMH2024! This is a fantastic opportunity to build on the knowledge exchange that began last year when Ingrid hosted a team from Singapore at Ringwood Prevention and Recovery Care Centre in Melbourne. What a wonderful example of learning, collaboration, and global connection in mental health!

Specialist Peer Worker- Flourish Australia & Owner of "PEERspective Supervision".

It's definitely hard to know what to feel when making a big change in your life. On Tuesday, after over 11 years with the organisation, I finished my time at Flourish Australia to move onto new exciting opportunities for my career. The opportunities the organisation had given over the years have helped shape me into the Peer Worker I have become, and I will never not be grateful for this. The people I was privileged to work with and alongside, have taught me so much about my professional practice, about myself, and about how important relationships are in all parts of life and this sector. So, thankyou. I am excited to announce that next week I will beginning a journey with Wellways Australia, as their National Lived Experience Workforce Development Lead. I will be starting my first few days at some planning meetings in Melbourne, so I am super excited to meet a lot of the people I will be working alongside in the role. Thank you everyone for your support and encouragement through this change. Huge love.

  • Wellways is proud to lead a submission on behalf of the Australian Psychosocial Alliance (APA) to shape the government’s new General Foundational Supports. These supports aim to fill essential gaps in disability services, offering information, advocacy resources, peer support, and capacity-building for all. Our focus is clear: ensuring that people with psychosocial disabilities are fully represented in the design of these foundational supports. By listening to experiences from participants, families, carers, and staff, we’re advocating for a truly inclusive approach. We’re inviting voices with lived experience to help shape this submission. If you’d like to participate in a paid consultation session, your insights could make a real difference.
