  • UDIA WA has welcomed the announcement today by Premier Roger Cook and Housing Minister John Carey MLA that Keystart property price caps have been lifted to $730,000 for the Keystart Low Deposit Home Loan.   The cap has also been increased to $615,000 for the Shared Home Ownership Home Loan.   UDIA WA has long advocated for this change, which includes that Keystart’s property price limits will be regularly revised against annualised median house prices sourced from REIWA.   Given the median house price in Perth has been steadily increasing, particularly in light of current housing shortages, we congratulate the State Government on making the right move for many West Australians seeking to get their foot in the home ownership door.   Keystart is a fantastic West Aussie initiative that we whole heartedly support, and these recent property price reforms, along with the move to make Keystart a Government Trading Enterprise (GTE) are positive steps forward that will allow more people to benefit from Keystart.

  • 📢 Another joint government announcement today that will help boost the supply of much needed housing in WA! UDIA WA has provided more information in our Member Alert that has been emailed to all our members today, however in brief: 🏘️ UDIA WA welcomed today’s joint announcement by the Federal Minister for Infrastructure Hon. Catherine King; Minister for Housing Hon. Clare O'Neil; WA Deputy Premier Hon. Rita Saffioti MLA; and the Hon. John Carey MLA of the $105 million towards critical infrastructure, which is set to boost the supply of development-ready land and 28,000 new homes.  💲 The funding announced today is part of the Government’s Housing Support Program, and has been allocated to 21 projects in several key growth areas of Perth and regional WA. 🚂 It is understood the projects will help deliver social and at-market housing, including around METRONET stations. UDIA WA has been working tirelessly with the State Government, on behalf of our members, to address both infrastructure constraints for immediate supply and enabling requirements to catalyse the delivery of much-needed housing in Perth’s key growth areas. Many of the projects identified for this funding were raised at the Developer Roundtable on 19 June 2024, hosted by the Residential Lands and Housing Delivery Ministerial Oversight Committee in direct response to UDIA WA’s advocacy. The funding allocation includes: 👉 $50.6 million for Water Corporation infrastructure projects that will deliver an estimated 23,280 residential lots, including $7.3 million for two regional projects to deliver over 3,000 lots in Bunbury and Dardanup; 👉 $30.5 million for projects delivered by Western Power, DevelopmentWA and the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage that will deliver an estimated 4,565 residential lots and 19 social housing dwellings; and 👉 $23.8 million for construction projects that will deliver 51 social housing dwellings in High Wycombe, Stirling and Innaloo. 👓 UDIA WA members, please check your inbox to read UDIA WA's Member Alert for more info! #housingsupply #perthrealestate #urbandevelopment #infrastructure #wapol #perthproperty #infrastructurefunding
