Albany Highway Precinct Structure Plan: feedback extended ✍️ Due to high community interest (and lots of documents to review), we’ve extended the comment period for the draft Albany Highway Precinct Structure Plan to 16 January 2025. This project will shape one of the Town’s most defining features – the beloved Albany Highway strip – so we want to hear from as many people as possible. A dynamic place for everyone.
About us
The Town of Victoria Park’s vision is to be a dynamic place for everyone! As one of Australia’s fastest-growing metro areas, the population of the Town is forecast to soar from 38,000 to 56,000 by 2036 and could exceed 100,000 by 2050. The area has been transformed into a highly desirable inner-city location, set apart by its multitude of offerings for residents including its proximity to the CBD, location on the Swan River foreshore and access to the entertainment precinct of Burswood, which includes Crown, Optus Stadium and Belmont Racecourse, as well as significant public transport and education facilities with the Causeway bus interchange, Armadale train line and Curtin University. Billions of dollars are being invested to continue to turn the Town into Perth’s premier place for entertainment and entrepreneurship. We want to see people living in mixed-use precincts, and the creation of transit-oriented developments that enrich a cosmopolitan, inner-city lifestyle that brings energy and vibrancy to the area. The Albany Hwy café strip has exploded in recent years to become renowned for the bevvy of food outlets offering casual and delicious dining. The area has been dubbed the “United Nations of food” with an incredible diverse range of cuisines. The appearance of small, and boutique bars and microbreweries is something new for Vic Park and has been welcomed by the community. The Town has had a strong focus on activating its spaces, delivering events and supporting local businesses. We aim to continue this approach and build a brand around all things to see and do in Vic Park, to become known as a place to visit, eat, shop, play, invest, learn and live the life. With all this happening and ahead of us, we know we need the best people on board to realise our values and vision. The Town is committed to attracting and supporting talented staff. We value our employees and offer great benefits, with flexibility for families and balancing work and life choices.

LOCAL PLANNING POLICY - TREE RETENTION ENDORSED FOR ADVERTISING The Town of Victoria Park has prepared a new policy aimed at increasing the retention of large trees (>8m in height) on private property as part of our efforts to maintain and grow the Town's urban forest. Based on the recently released WA Local Government Association (WALGA) Model Tree Retention policy, this policy has been carefully calibrated so that it is not about 'trees vs development'. We think it finds the right balance, enabling residents to manage vegetation whilst ensuring that the retention of valuable mature canopy trees is given greater consideration at all stages of development. 🌳 🏡 🏢 🌲 We are keen to hear what our community thinks. Public comments are open until the 19 December. https://lnkd.in/gADHQ4ks #VicParkPlanningProgram #UrbanForest #CityPlanning

It was such an energised day on Tuesday in celebrating International Day of People with Disabilty. Local schools students participated in a flag raising ceremony, heard from local leaders / role models in the Town’s Mayor, Karen Vernon and Cr Anderson, engaged with service providers, enjoyed great food and drink, kicked footballs with Jackson Nelson from the West Coast Eagles, with the highlight being the amazing performance from Grand Delusions, an inclusion focused band coordinated by local organisation Visibility. Great work Rahul Ramabhadran and Annie Withrow on pulling this inclusive event together, with support from the CD / EAF team. #inclusion #IDPwD TownofVictoriaPark Richard O'Connell
