About us

The Lisa Harnum Foundation was founded to provide advocacy, support and information to families affected by domestic violence in the Hills Shire of Sydney. We believe that every person has the right to live free of abuse and control. Our aim is to eradicate domestic violence through increased awareness, education and prevention programs. We provide assistance and information to victims of domestic violence, including counselling and support groups. The Foundation is named after Lisa Harnum, who was in an abusive domestic relationship and in July 2011 was thrown off a 15 story balcony by her then fiancé to her death. One in three women in Australia will experience some form of domestic violence and one woman is murdered each week in Australia due to domestic violence. The Lisa Harnum Foundation aims to reduce these statistics.
