Abu Odigie, Co-Founder of Tendertrace shares his insights, backed by Tendertrace data featured in The Canberra Times, article entitled 'Hundreds of pre-qualified suppliers not receiving a cent from govt depts'. His own opinion piece featured here, emphasises the need for strategic changes to support diverse economic growth. He underscores the challenges small and medium enterprises (SMEs) face due to government procurement panels. He highlights how these panels, while intended to streamline procurement, disproportionately favor larger businesses due to their complex application processes. He advocates for procurement reforms to ensure transparency and equal opportunities for all businesses, including SMEs and First Nations suppliers, to promote a fair and competitive procurement environment. To view Abu's opinion piece https://lnkd.in/gzgc_Yw4 To view the article with the original Tendertrace data - you can access here (subscription required) - https://lnkd.in/gC9P-8Ay

    • Abu Odigie as quoted in the Canberra Times - while panels are designed to enhance efficiency, our data show they can inadvertently favour large enterprises and multinationals with the resources to navigate these processes more effectively.

From Tendertrace's perspective, the recent ministerial appointments and policy shifts in NSW could be seen as a significant development, particularly for businesses in the government procurement and manufacturing sectors. The emphasis on boosting domestic manufacturing and leveraging government procurement to stimulate job creation and local industry growth aligns well with Tendertrace's mission to enhance transparency and efficiency in public sector procurement. The specific focus on increasing investments in domestic capabilities and the planned expenditures on infrastructure like new ferries and educational facilities could open up new opportunities for local suppliers. Tendertrace could support these suppliers by providing actionable insights and data-driven intelligence to effectively align their offerings with the emerging government priorities and projects. Moreover, the commitment to rebuilding local manufacturing capabilities and enhancing skills training through TAFE may also influence the types of services and products that government agencies will be procuring, potentially leading to a shift in procurement trends that Tendertrace users can capitalise on. The platform's ability to analyse and interpret procurement data can be instrumental for businesses looking to navigate these changes and identify new opportunities in the evolving government procurement landscape. Thanks The Mandarin for the article. #GovernmentProcurement #PublicSectorInnovation #GovTech #Tendertrace Note* Courtney Houssos serves as the Minister for Domestic Manufacturing and Government Procurement in the Government of New South Wales, Australia.
