Hello, Tam here. I was very excited to attend the Spectrum Writing book launch today for “Hyperfocus”, a book by Autistic writers. I’ve known the Spectrum Writing crew for about 10 years having worked with Kate in a previous role (Kate is one of the owners and wife of Jason, pictured). Such lovely people creating space for Autistic writers to share their stories… which by the way are amazing. I definitely shed a tear or two listening to them today (and that doesn’t often happen…in public). Well done to the entire Spectrum Writing Team and community for sharing your work so vulnerably. Jaz and Tam were excited to be invited to Flinders University today for their College of Nursing and Health Sciences Workshop around supporting neurodivergent placement students (nursing & allied health) Jaz returned to her old stomping ground from her uni days (although the medical sciences building is brand spanking new!). She was able to offer a multi-layered perspective as a neurodivergent person who not only went to this uni and went through her own placements - but has since supervised neurodivergent placement students at Sunny and created some innovative programs for ND people. Tam on the other hand…. Was a health sciences drop-out AND a nursing drop-out 😅 so she could only really share what DIDN’T work 😅 We love sharing our lived-experiences together with solutions for enhancing opportunities & accessibility for ND people. Thanks to Clare from Flinders and Ed from Novita for taking an interest in our work, along with all the other attendees who welcomed us today.
