Hume Community Housing is proud to have been recognised as the Runner-Up for the Government Program Collaboration Award at the 2024 PowerHousing Australia Awards. Through the Homes NSW Direct Deal policy, our Philip Street Pilot Project will commence in early 2025, transforming three run-down properties into 13 high-quality, fit-for-purpose dwellings in Raymond Terrace, a region with exceptionally high housing needs. Hume has worked very closely with Port Stephens Council's planning team to design an outcome that provides a much-needed increase in housing supply through a neighbourhood-scale development. This initiative demonstrates the power of collaboration between government and community housing providers, addressing urgent housing challenges while creating a replicable model for future public housing renewal in regional areas. Together, we’re creating sustainable, long-term solutions that will make a lasting impact on the lives of those who need it most. #HumeCommunityHousing #PowerHousingAwards2024 #GovernmentCollaboration #AffordableHousing #InnovationInHousing #CommunityHousing Brad Braithwaite, Dan Lincoln, Weixu Ji, Bryce Luke, Lucy Andrews, Kelly Preston, Yasin Oz, Stephanie Campbell

It was a privilege to celebrate the opening of the latest stage of construction at Nambucca Valley Christian Community School (NVCCS), marking the culmination of over a decade of growth and transformation. In 2013, NVCCS was a small primary school with just 40 students. Under the inspiring leadership of Board Member Howard Penn (whose remarkable legacy we honour following his passing in 2024), the school embarked on a journey to expand its facilities and capacity. Phillip Stanton's original masterplan laid the groundwork to grow the school into a single-stream secondary school. Since then, Stanton Dahl Architects has been proud to partner with NVCCS in delivering eight stages, now culminating in a two-stream secondary school serving over 500 students. The newly completed Stage 8 includes six additional General Learning Areas (GLAs), staff offices, and an Adult Change Room. These new spaces reflect the school’s dedication to fostering honour, dignity, and wellbeing in its students and staff. Over the years, the projects have also delivered specialist classrooms for TAS, Science, Art, Food Technology, and Drama, a Multipurpose Hall, and expanded administration spaces—all designed to support the needs of this growing community. The opening was attended by several dignitaries who have supported this journey, including Jeof Falls, General Manager and CEO, Presbyterian Church of Australia in NSW, Jillian Garnham, Board Member, Jeff Allen, Principal NVCCS, and Pat Conaghan MP, Federal Member for Cowper. This project wouldn’t have been possible without the exceptional efforts of the project team: Anandhi Dhanushkoti, Mary Isidoro, Peter Rodgers and Rhys Whale. We were fortunate to collaborate with outstanding consultants, including O'Meara Wood & Associates Pty Ltd (Structural), Clarence Consultants Pty Ltd (Electrical), Glenn Haig & Partners (Hydraulics), and Northrop Consulting Engineers (Mechanical). The build was expertly delivered by CBuild (Northcoast) Pty Ltd. Stage 8 is a beautiful addition to NVCCS and a testament to what can be achieved through vision, collaboration, and a shared commitment to honouring and supporting the wellbeing of the community. Congratulations to everyone involved in this incredible journey! #ArchitectureInTheServiceOfPeople #BeGoodDoGoodMakeGood #StantonDahlArchitects #EducationDesign #SchoolArchitecture

We were honoured to sponsor the St Philip's Christian Education Golf Classic earlier this month, supporting the St Philip's Christian College Young Parents, an initiative that brings generational change to young parents through education. Some of our team members – Shayne Evans, David Buster, James Stuart and Laura Baker – along with our friends Julian Mellick and Adam Foster from Colin Biggers & Paisley, enjoyed a great day on the green, connecting with others and supporting Young Parents College. This event raised crucial funds and awareness for a program that’s transforming lives. The day also saw Young Parents College patron Mrs Julia Anderson launch an important ambassador program to raise awareness and promote the work of the Young Parents College, which we’re proud to support through our services. The Young Parents College provides education tailored for young parents, many of whom face significant challenges like homelessness and trauma. Their unique dual-generational approach offers teenage parents the opportunity to continue their education in a supportive, non-judgmental environment. With an onsite Early Learning Centre, both parents and children can grow together, creating a foundation for success in both parenting and academics. We had the privilege of hearing Jessica’s inspiring story—a true testament to resilience and hope. Despite the odds, Jessica graduated with her HSC and a Certificate II in Retail Services while caring for her three children, encouraging others with her message of perseverance and faith. It was great to catch up with Jacques Cronje, Amanda McInnes, Graeme Irwin, Michelle Cairelli, David Price, Nicole D., Tim Caughey and some of the wider SPCC family as well. Together, we’re helping to build a brighter future for young parents and their children. Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is important to our commitment to design-led social impact at Stanton Dahl Architects. This month, our Sydney studio hosted an in-depth session on Door Hardware, expertly led by our associate David Bell, covering everything from door assemblies and pathways to fire ratings and security standards. We explored the intricacies of door frames, fire-rated assemblies, and the essential role of smoke seals and perimeter seals in maintaining building safety and integrity. Discussions also highlighted practical considerations like the use of vision panels in fire-rated doors and the importance of choosing hardware that can withstand rigorous usage and meet compliance requirements. A special shoutout to those joining us online from our Melbourne studio and home offices! Your engagement demonstrates the power of shared expertise and collaboration across our team. We’re proud of our team’s commitment to deepening knowledge and advancing together to deliver spaces that truly bring about honour, wellbeing and dignity. Here’s to learning and growing with every project! #ArchitectureInTheServiceOfPeople #StantonDahlArchitects #Architecture #ProfessionalDevelopment #BeGoodDoGoodMakeGood

In partnership with Homes NSW, we are proud to have delivered 8 safe, self-contained, and accessible studio apartments in Western Sydney — part of a new generation boarding house designed to support older women facing homelessness. This initiative not only provides secure housing but also empowers the future of construction through a partnership with TAFE NSW. The project offered pre-apprenticeship training opportunities, creating a meaningful impact that extends beyond the build itself. Celebrating our Lasa Street, Cabramatta project once again — a development close to our hearts and deeply rooted in community values. Our Associate Ahmed Tarshan, says it best: “The project illustrates how socially driven architecture can play a powerful role in bringing culture, community, human-centricity, and social values to the forefront of the design process.” Developed by Common Equity NASR Group and Van Lang Vietnamese Co-op, this project combines 13 Senior Living Residences and a communal space, meeting the culturally rich and specific needs of the Vietnamese seniors’ community. Working in partnership to provide new homes🤝 Our recently completed development in Cabramatta is a great example of how collaboration can deliver much needed housing for those in need. 🏡 Delivered in partnership with Common Equity NSW and funded through the Community Housing Innovation Fund, the final stage of this co-operative development has created 9 new social housing units for seniors. 🗝️ The Co-operative Housing model provides tenants with a voice and is proven to contribute to positive health and social outcomes. It’s all part of our work to foster partnerships to deliver quality homes that change lives and end homelessness 👉 https://lnkd.in/gHsY_tyc #SocialHousing #HomesNSW #NSWGovernment #Cabramatta

Last week, our CEO Shayne Evans was enjoying the sunshine in Brisbane at the Christian Schools Australia National Business Conference. This conference Stanton Dahl Architects was not just a sponsor, but part of important conversations happening across the education sector at the moment. We were joined by Adam Foster from Colin Biggers & Paisley to present a workshop on Safer Schools, highlighting the importance of integrating safety and design, to not only enhance education spaces but also ensure legal compliance. By merging architecture with our thorough understanding of safety regulations, we’re driving conversations around how schools can create environments that protect and empower their communities. If you’re interested in discovering how your school measures up from a safety perspective, let’s connect and discuss how we can help create safer, more resilient learning spaces for everyone. #SaferSchools #ChristianSchoolsAustralia #EducationMatters #StantonDahlArchitects #SchoolDesign

Member Hume Community Housing and Homes NSW are teaming up to build 13 new homes in Raymond Terrace, thanks to a land deal and funding from the Federal Government’s Social and Affordable Accelerator Fund. 🏡 Homes NSW will provide land where three ageing dwellings currently sit, and Hume will manage the project, transforming the site into six two-bedroom social homes and seven new affordable townhouses. 🌟 Designed by member Stanton Dahl Architects, the 13 modern townhouses provide privacy and community connection. NSW Minister for Housing and Homelessness Rose Jackson said, “This partnership marks a significant milestone in addressing housing needs in the Hunter Region. By working together with Hume Housing, we are revitalising the community of Raymond Terrace and setting a precedent for innovative housing solutions.” CEO Brad Braithwaite said, “Although Hume is a non-profit community housing provider, we are investing in this pilot project using our cherished reserves because we see it as a model with great potential for providing more significant and diverse housing solutions at scale for this region in the future."🌟🏠 We look forward to more partnership opportunities like these as the direct dealing policy is renewed and new pathways for unsolicited bids are established! #HousingForAll #SocialHousing #AffordableHousing #Hunter
