Last year we took a poetic approach to our end of year video, this year we've gone with a 'wrapped' version. From launching Australia's first high-powered rocket to winning a Space Award with the Koonibba Community to securing the approvals for our orbital launch complex, it's been an incredible year for the Southern Launch team. Thank you to everyone who has supported us in 2024. We seek to reach the outer realms of our universe in the space industry, but it's safe to say we're a pretty close bunch with fantastic supporters. Wishing everyone a very merry festive season.

This week our team hit the road to visit schools across the Eyre Peninsula as part of The Andy Thomas Space Foundation EP Space Explorers Program. From Port Lincoln to Cowell and many schools in between, it was a great couple of days working with students to design and build their own water bottle rocket before launching them into the sky! Education outreach is a big focus for Southern Launch and we were excited to work with over 250 incredible students at 7 different schools. Best part is, we're heading back to the EP next week to do even more visits and uncover some more budding rocket scientists! (and Travis got to visit his mum's school!)

Last week was our second work experience program for 2024, and we welcomed four students from regional SA and Adelaide to join the Southern Launch team! Thank you to Inovor Technologies and Neumann Space for hosting us for a tour and sharing your work with the students. Reviews from the students included: 'It was a wonderful time, I learned so much about how a space company works, and most definitely, it is one of those experiences that I will never forget.' 'Thank you, Southern Launch, for this amazing time. I will treasure each memory I have made.' 'Thank you, Southern Launch, for this AWESOME experience.' 'As a student from a regional area that loves space it was amazing to have this experience.' And we can report that the Southern Launch staff rocket went the highest 😉 🚀

We are go for launch from the Whalers Way Orbital Launch Complex! Launches from the world's most versatile launch site will begin in 2025 after Southern Launch was granted approval to develop the site from both the Federal and South Australian governments. It’s safe to say we’re over the moon to develop an orbital launch facility that could one day see missions launched to the moon and beyond! We are proud to add the first commercial return authorisation from the Australian Government to our list of firsts in the Australian space industry. Excited to welcome Varda Space Industries to the Koonibba Test Range in 2025! Read more ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/ghDyG3Uq
Today Varda received authorization from the Australian Space Agency for multiple W-series vehicle reentries into the Koonibba Test Range, hosted by our friends at Southern Launch. We’re honored to perform Australia’s first commercial space reentry. This authorization makes Varda the first company to be able to reenter spacecraft on land in two countries, ushering in a global economy where reentry is as common as launch. Soon low earth orbit will simply be another place where materials are processed.
