Australia’s Moon mission is shifting from concept to reality. Minister for Industry and Science Ed Husic MP has today announced ELO2 to design, build, and operate Roo-ver – our nation’s first lunar rover which will head to the Moon with NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration later this decade. This milestone follows an intense 18-month preliminary design process, which has already built upon Australian know-how in robotics, automation and a range of other critical tech areas that are essential to Australia’s future. The 30th Asia-Pacific Regional Space Agency Forum (APRSAF-30) brought together leaders, experts, and innovators from 30+ countries under the theme, “collaborating to build a sustainable and responsible regional space sector”. Co-hosted by JAXA: Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency and the Australian Space Agency, the event attracted over 700 participants, fostering partnerships across government, industry and academia. Out of 940+ global nominees, Redshift from Melbourne are one of 40 global finalists in the NASA #SpaceApps Challenge. NASA Space Apps Challenge is a hackathon for coders, scientists, designers, storytellers, makers, technologists and innovators around the world and is supported by the Australian Space Agency. The Australian Global Finalists, Redshift, accepted the challenge to create an app that enabled utilisation of NASA’s Landsat satellite Earth Observation data on reflectance.
