Lake Macquarie Private Hospital has unveiled new technology able to easily and accurately test cognitive function in just six minutes, as the hospital looks to simplify concussion assessment and management for Hunter Valley locals. The new technology, now available in Lake Macquarie Private Hospital’s Emergency Department (ED), has been designed to quickly and painlessly scan and evaluate brain function, providing immediate results. Lake Macquarie Private Hospital Director of Emergency, Dr Mark Lee, said the hospital could now offer locals unique, and comprehensive concussion testing and treatment options in one place. Ramsay Health Care’s Chief Transformation, Digital and Data Officer, Dr Rachna Gandhi was invited to present at last week’s Bupa Healthcare Symposium: “Unboxing Digital Health” in London. Dr Rachna Gandhi (PhD) delivered a Ted Talk style presentation, and joined fellow international experts on a panel discussing “Remote Care: What is coming around the corner”. Rachna explained how Ramsay is rethinking how healthcare is delivered to improve patient experiences and outcomes, including adopting new technologies and improving access to care. “The aspect of remote care that I find exciting is the potential to move from reactive to proactive health care. Technologies which enable continuous monitoring, adjustments and early intervention based on real time, personalised data have potential to make profound changes to the physical and mental health of people around the world.
