Congratulations to satellite analytics company WEO🌍, the inaugural winner of the QBE AcceliCITY Resilience Challenge Humanitarian Track.   The Humanitarian track was launched this year in partnership with Leading Cities and Australian Red Cross Humanitech to help find and accelerate innovative technologies that address the humanitarian impacts of climate change.  Leveraging data from space, the power of artificial intelligence and local knowledge, WEO provides communities with information that helps them better understand and adapt to the impacts of a changing climate.  As this year’s winner, WEO will pilot its solution in partnership with the community of Dargo, in Victoria. The pilot not only aims to create scalable solutions that will help strengthen Dargo but also offers a blueprint to support communities across Australia and beyond. Congratulations to Jamie Kelly who has been appointed QBE’s Group Chief Compliance Officer reporting to our Group Chief Risk Officer, Fiona Larnach. This is following Ed Rainsford’s recent move to the Chief Risk Officer, AUSPAC role. The enterprise knowledge gained through his recent support of Risk Culture and Conduct initiatives, combined with deep compliance expertise, sets Jamie up well for this important role.
