A Social Enterprise turning Old Tech into New Life!
About us
PonyUp for Good is a Social Enterprise. We take your company's donated, decommissioned technology - securely data erase it and on-sell, with a 'reuse first mandate'. Devices feel good about themselves as they're reused for up to another seven years, providing affordable, working technology to folk in developing countries, while keeping toxic chemicals out of soil & waterways. The MAJOR KICKER - 50% of PonyUp's profits are donated to SecondBite, Australia's fresh food crusaders, who last year, rescued 10 million kilograms of fresh food and redistributed it to over 1300 food programs nationally. That's over 55,000 healthy meals a day. Did you know we create 20 MILLION tonnes of e-waste every year? We also throw away $8 BILLION dollars of fresh edible food while 2 MILLION Australians go hungry. We think this is rubbish - and we're doing something about it! The wonderful team at Nando's Australia & New Zealand not only donates fresh excess chicken from their stores to the wonderful work of SecondBite, they also donate their end of life technology to the team at PonyUp for Good, turning it into fresh meals for people in need via SecondBite. 💚 🍎 A recent tally of donation totals has seen them divert 4678 kilos of e-waste from landfill AND through the partnership donate 6535 fresh meals to people in need at a time when food insecurity is impacting more Australians than ever before, with nearly 6 in 10 people forced to choose between food and other essential expenses. Nando's Australia & New Zealand has been PonyingUp their decommissioned tech since 2018 - and with a global purpose of ‘Changing Lives, Together’ we tip our hats this week to their team as a force for good - GiddyUp! #socialimpact #ESG #Changinglives #foodrescue #sustainability #ponyupforgood

We have been in the call centre for the SecondBite #MillionMealsDay today - calling good folk to help reach 1 Million Meals donated. Turns out, I am not very good at it 😂 HOWEVER - I have noticed a lot of beautiful familiar names appearing in the donors list (you know who you are) and that made me feel a whole lot better about being useless at the calling thing. Thank you for the beautiful contribution you have made - I am so lucky to have such a wonderful circle of people in my world! Anyone still considering donating - they are currently at 75% of target and the fundraiser goes till 8pm tonight - https://lnkd.in/gSpQEcxU All donations (up to 100K) will be doubled by corporate partners including PonyUp - so $50 becomes $100 worth of impact PLUS and you will receive a receipt for claiming come tax time and we all love a rebate! 💚 🍎 👏 Mardi Brown

Now and again lovely people reach out regarding reuse solutions for valuable items outside of PonyUp for Good's core corporate tech programs, and although it's not something which yields a meal donation, we think this outcome is a BEAUTIFUL THING. The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) recently sought our input on what could be done with 350 x Samsonite suitcases, which had been lightly used as part of a national health survey. Because keeping things out of landfill and fulfilling their useful destiny is what gets us out of bed in the morning, we jumped into action & found the wonderful team of volunteers at Hope in a Suitcase Australia, who provide small suitcases for children entering foster or out of home care. The suitcases will be packed with helpful items such as brand new clothing, toiletries, a soft toy, small blanket, books, colouring pencils and various age appropriate items, and are designed to ensure the children have a secure & dignified place to put their belongings, giving them a sense of pride and care. Hope in a Suitcase Australia is a registered charity staffed by volunteers, which relies solely on the generosity of the community and this donation by ABS will make a wonderful #impact for children in need. #Hairnets are definitely a vibe! Yesterday Mardi Brown and I spent the afternoon volunteering at FareShare Abbotsford packing delicious and wholesome meal portions for free distribution to hundreds of #charities including soup vans, homeless shelters, women’s refuges, First Nations organisations and groups assisting natural disasters - alongside Travis Hatton and Adisa Hubanic from Chobani Australia and Josh Murray from Josh's Rainbow Eggs. SecondBite and FareShare recently joined forces so it was incredible to get to see the wonderful impact being made using rescued produce as well as fresh food grown by the Fareshare team! Rock on the hairnet!

With a strong commitment to sustainable investment and business practices, IFM Investors joined the PonyUp for Good stable in 2022, and since then has diverted 2054 kilos of technology from landfill. That’s more than the number of households in Sydney and Melbourne combined... Since 1980, IFM Investors have been investing and growing the long term retirement savings for working people across the world - and motivating their own people to make a difference.
