At Piccolo, we believe that great communities are crafted, not simply found. Through thoughtful design and purposeful spaces, we create places where connection thrives and everyday rituals become opportunities for belonging. At Elwood House, this vision is brought to life through Plain Sailing—a hub of neighbourhood vibrancy where locals gather for morning coffees or evening drinks, creating the threads that bind a community together. At Nine Yards within Piccolo House, this philosophy deepens. The design fosters shared experiences at every level, from inviting streetscapes to carefully curated interiors that encourage moments of togetherness. Thoughtfully integrated ground-floor spaces and tactile materials ensure that both residents and neighbours feel at home. By placing people and place at the centre of every project, we enhance neighbourhoods by crafting homes that bring people together and nurture a true sense of belonging. At Piccolo, every detail is carefully considered to enhance the lives of those who reside in our homes while creating meaningful connections with the surrounding community. Fitzroy House embodies this philosophy. Positioned within one of Melbourne’s most vibrant cultural precincts, it pays homage to its heritage with the preservation of the original red-brick façade, seamlessly complemented by contemporary interiors designed to embrace natural light and cultivate a sense of calm and connection. By uniting history and modernity, Fitzroy House elevates the standard of living for its residents while enriching the character of its neighbourhood. This is Piccolo’s enduring commitment—to create homes that are as timeless as they are thoughtful, blending quality, design, and community. From the verdant landscaping to the elegant interiors, every detail has been carefully considered to blend liveability with beauty. Construction progress at Piccolo House - Gore Street, Fitzroy. We recently bid farewell to the crane that has resided on site since late 2023. With this milestone achieved, we are only weeks away from removing the exterior scaffolding and revealing the building's complete facade. At Piccolo, our design philosophy centres on understanding who will inhabit the residences, how they will use the space, and how the building connects with its surroundings. In South Melbourne, the unique island site of Piccolo House inspired us to create a space that engages with its neighbourhood from all angles. The commerce centre’s private offices operate from the restored original Victorian terrace facing Dorcas Street, while the Charles Street laneway reinterprets Giblett’s paintings on the contemporary metropolis into physical urban art using Corten steel in various shades. With bespoke retail and commercial offerings at the ground level, Piccolo House added to the character of the area and seamlessly integrated into the community. #Piccolo #SouthMelbourne #Architecture #LuxuryRealEstate #SouthMelbourneMarket Wood Marsh Architecture Michael Piccolo Ola Hensworth Gaby Cilia Toby Earle Richard Knight Irene Wozniak

With The Garden House, we set out to create a collection of residences that reflected their locale and offered something truly special for those looking to 'rightsize' and be close to the city. In collaboration with Woods Bagot and Hecker Guthrie, we ensured The Garden House bridged the gap between Carlton’s high-rise apartments and Victorian terraces, providing residents with a strong sense of home, community, and privacy. Situated across from Carlton Gardens, with views of the Royal Exhibition Building, the design respects the area’s natural beauty and culture, offering tranquil, spacious homes that connect seamlessly to the surrounding landscape. At Piccolo, we’re committed to making a positive impact in our local community by partnering with charities in our industry. One of those is Women's Property Initiatives, which creates new beginnings for women and children at risk of homelessness by providing permanent homes, access to support networks, and ongoing advocacy. Alarmingly, 2 out of 3 people seeking homelessness services are women, and more than 54,000 Australian women are homeless on any given night. We encourage you to learn more about their vital work: https://wpi.org.au Our thanks to all those who attended: Michael Piccolo Mima Piccolo Ola Hensworth Gaby Cilia Irene Wozniak Annabel Heron Sally Martin Lucy Simms Kim Pham Roberta Buchanan Tamara Gross Leah Brown Aífe Raveche Jodie Schickerling 🗝️ Charlotte Gelber Vanessa Hoey Elise Betts Lauren Siegal Chloe Hyland Kate Luscombe Angie Glavas Mollie Bayne Zoe Goodhardt Philippa (Pip) Stork Sim Gill Renée Giarrusso Vicki Hogg Sarah Stock Jessica Khalid Amal Iharkachen Kathy Johnson Stephanie Johnston Vicky Rushworth Max Soans-Burne #APiccoloHouse #Piccolo #PiccoloPartners #WomensPropertyInitiative

Standard X, a new world-class hotel is now open in Fitzroy. So pleased that our residents at Fitzroy House and A Piccolo House - Gore street, Fitzroy will be able to enjoy this avant-garde hotel with a rooftop restaurant right at their doorstep. Congratulations to our partners, Woods Bagot and Hecker Guthrie, for designing this standout addition to the neighbourhood. #Piccolo #APiccoloHouse #ConstructionMelbourne #ArchitectureMelbourne #Fitzroy #PeopleArchitecture #HotelDesign Michael Piccolo Ola Hensworth Gaby Cilia Toby Earle Richard Knight
Wallpaper* magazine published a story on the new StandardX hotel, describing it as an "embodiment of its context" in the creative city-fringe suburb of Fitzroy. "Just launched, The StandardX, Melbourne is an edgy addition to the hotel scene in Australia’s cultural capital and represents a double debut – it’s the first Standard International hotel in the country and the first StandardX to open worldwide," writes Wallpaper. "A ‘younger, rebellious sibling’ to the hotel brand, StandardX contains the signature DNA that guests know and love, positioned at a more accessible price point." With architecture by Woods Bagot and interiors by Hecker Guthrie, the hotel combines local emplaced history with the avant-garde, boasting two dining venues, a bodega, a rooftop terrace, 125 rooms, and an eclectic ground-floor lobby. "What makes the new StandardX brand so original? On the evidence of Melbourne, a knack for attracting authentic creative talent contributes to a hotel experience that is anything but standard."
