Day 8 & 9 of the Outpoint Group stadium tour – what a way to end the trip with 2 days in Las Vegas! Words can’t really describe the sights and sounds of the strip – it’s something that has to be seen to be believed. I’ve wrapped the last two days into one post as we saw the same stadium twice (Allegiant Stadium or the Death Star as it’s called by the locals). On Saturday we saw the Las Vegas Raiders play the Kansas City Chiefs, which sadly was a loss for the Raaaaaiii-derrrrs. However, it is a very impressive venue, with almost every square inch covered in some form of branding either in their team colour scheme or with the Raider’s awesome logo. The extra wide LED screen at the southern end covers the broadcast content (in either 21:9 or 24:9 ultra wide format based on my guesstimate), match stats, announcements and messages, and advertising. As Las Vegas is a rather warm climate, like many stadiums, the bowl is fully conditioned. What was interesting to see was the use of black fabric duct to condition the upper seating bowl – I can only assume this is part aesthetics and part weight saving, but it looked great. On Sunday we were back at Allegiant for the behind the scenes stadium tour. This has to be one of the best and most interactive tours I’ve been on. The tour guides each have a touch screen controller strapped to their arm, and as the tour progresses, they can activate various key displays at the touch of a button. The highlight was the Raiders home locker room which had a fantastic setup including some AV wizardry by BRC Imagination Arts (https://lnkd.in/gvAbDBpD) – no spoilers here, but it certainly wowed everyone! After the tour, we then had some time on the northern deck playing corn hole, beer pong (sans beer), and testing our passing skills. For those that have been following along, you may wonder where day 10 went. This was an oversight on my behalf, our first day on the tour was really arriving in Minneapolis, looking around the city (well worth going to the Mill City Museum if you have the time) and an amazing welcome dinner at Guacaya Bistreaux. Massive thanks and shoutout to the Outpoint Group team (Steven Lock, Brad Paatsch, and Simon Gorr) and Daktronics (Julian Miller) for building and managing such an amazing trip across the states. We had some great laughs along the way and I was very humbled to spend so much high quality time with some of the industry’s leading experts across many different skill sets in addition to the various site visits. If anyone is considering joining a future tour, it’s well worth the effort! Also a big thanks to Michael Pound at MTA - Mobile Travel Agents for all your help with my travel from Australia to the states and back again.

Day 7 of the Outpoint Group stadium tour - Vegas baby! Time to see the mind boggling Sphere and watch the Vegas Golden Knights vs the San Jose Sharks T-Mobile Arena. Just visiting the Sphere is something to again! The external shell is covered in LED pucks that create an enormous canvas for digital content. L-Acoustics cabinets are distributed around the facade for audio content and provide impressive full range audio even at distance. Once inside, there are a couple of interactive displays with animatronics that showcase the venue technology including the HOLOPLOT beamforming speakers. We saw postcards from earth which is well worth seeing if you have the time. Then on to T-Mobile Arena to see the Golden Knights have a convincing win over the San Jose Sharks. The match was fast paced and there were some great activations to build up the atmosphere including marching drummers, a dragon, and what we were pretty sure was an Aussie expat acting as the Vegas Golden Knight. This venue had one of the best FoH audio systems from all matches we saw - you can read more about it here https://lnkd.in/g_BBzyxH Sadly like all good things our tour is coming to an end - our next and final stop is Allegiant Stadium to see the Las Vegas Raiders take on the Kansas City Chiefs, followed by a stadium tour. Hopefully we might be able to sneak in a cheeky shop at the outlets before starting the long treck back home.

Day 6 of the Outpoint Group stadium tour - back to SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park for a behind the scenes tour with one of the project's key architects, Niel Prunier. Following the tour, we headed across to Cryto.com Arena to watch the Los Angeles Lakers defeat the Phoenix Suns. The tour of Sofi was eye opening and Niel gave some fantastic insights into the stadium construction and operations including: - The centre hung LED screen is three storeys high and forms part of the ballast for the roof cable grid system - The seismic dampners isolating the roof structure from the columns are designed to move up to 6' during earthquakes - Each of the pic perf panels around the stadium are unique and are designed to create a rainforest floor dappled light effect We also had a look through some of the premium product areas - probabily the closest I'll ever come to seeing them! Thanks again Niel for being a wonderful host and guide. Then off to Crypto.com Arena to watch the Lakers. The activations and prematch blended mix of moving heads / coloured wash / gobo lighting, projection, huge sound system, and of course the recently upgraded Daktronics centre hung LED screen and parapet LED ribbons. It was a great day for the folks of LA, with the crowd erupting half way through the third quarter when the Dodgers won game 1 of the World Series against the Yankees, which was rounded out by a nice win against the Suns. Next and final stop for the trip, Las Vegas to see Sphere, T-Mobile Arena, and Allegiant Stadium!

Amazing first half of the 2024 Outpoint Group US Sports tour, seeing some of the worlds best venues including US Bank Stadium in Minnesota, Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Chase Center in San Francisco and SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park and Intuit Dome in Los Angeles. The commitment to the fan experience in these venues is simply incredible. Thanks also to our sponsor Daktronics for the brilliant tour of their factory in Brookings.

  • 2024 Sports Venue Study Tour by Daktronics is live! Our first few days took us deep into the mid-west to Minneapolis MN and Brookings SD. The weather was unseasonally awesome for this time of year which only added to the spectacle of Vikings v Lions at US Bank Stadium. Built in 2016 to host the 2018 Superbowl, this is one of the loudest stadiums in the US. Sound levels are amplified by the translucent roof, which consistently reached 115-120 dB during the event. Advocating the current trend of translucent over retractable, the stunning permanent roof structure spans 22000 m2 and comprises of 60% EFTE panels. The roof pitch has been built at different angles with a snow mitigation system of heated basins and gutters to account for different snowfall rates, accumulation rates, and wind patterns. Next stop was Daktronics HQ where we saw first-hand why ‘Dak’ is the first choice for so many stadiums, arenas, schools, shopping centres and transport hubs around the world, when they need LED display systems. Our tour also has a focus on high performance athletic venues. South Dakota State University was super impressive and provided a sharp contrast to Australian sports HP venues, even for a small US university, in context. We met staff and toured their brand new basketball/volleyball arena, wrestling centre and the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex, which comprises of an eight-lane, 300-meter track and 100 x 60 yards of synthetic turf, along with sports medicine, golf simulators, baseball pens, strength and conditioning, physical therapy, hydrotherapy, observation rooms and office facilities. Special thanks to Julian Miller, Judd Guthmiller and the team at Daktronics for a fantastic opening leg of the tour! #studytour #sportsmedia #nfl #education #highperformance

  • 💡🏀 🏀💡 Terrific news from our tour title partner Daktronics with the unveiling of their new, state of the art, centre-hung scoreboard with crisp, crystal clear graphics and imagery at Los Angeles Lakers Crypto Arena. As a result of the National Basketball Association (NBA) releasing their '24-25 season schedule last night, our US Sports Venue Tour in October will now include the Lakers v Suns game on October 25th, where we will witness the new board in full display. Congratulations to the team at Daktronics! Blair Robertson Julian Miller #LED #sportstadium #Lakers #crypto #sportsmedia #studytour

  • Terrific article by Nathan Schmook of the AFL - Australian Football League explaining the importance of looking abroad at the latest trends in sports venue development. Outpoint was created with the same vision in mind and offers local sports infrastructure stakeholders the opportunity to gain unrivalled access to the latest stadiums and arenas abroad. We believe there is so much to learn from the many facets of these state of the art stadiums and arenas. Some of these areas include; technology, fan experience, fan amenities, athlete HP amenities, athlete medical facilities, F&B provisions, VIP/Premium hospitality, ESD, merchandise, digital advertising and the list goes on! • 🏀 Another of our tour stops this year is about to be opened - Intuit Dome. One of the incredible features of the US$2 billion new home of the LA Clippers is the Daktronics video halo. It is the largest double-sided video halo ever built, spanning almost a full acre and has some amazing features. The all-encompassing screen will have some elements that haven't been seen at an NBA arena. Perched high above the court, it feels like a video game with different corners providing a variety of features, such as "Coach's Corner" showing statistics and analytics from a shot chart. It can also measure how fast players are getting up and down the floor, as well as how often the Clippers run a certain play. Limited spaces are still available on Outpoint Group's 2024 USA Sports Venue Tour presented by Daktronics.
