The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission has published their insights report from the recent consultation on in-home and accommodation supports. These insights will guide the review of NDIS Practice Standards, support new SIL standards in 2025, and shape advice on separating SIL and SDA. NDS will review and discuss these outcomes with the sector and the Commission in the New Year. You can read the full report on the Commission's website. #NDIS #Disability #SupportedLiving #SpecialistDisabilityAccommodation 👉https://lnkd.in/egS6behh

With the federal election due soon, NDS is stepping up our campaign for a sustainable #NDIS in which quality providers thrive. Collaborations with other organisations have begun, as has our pre-election advocacy. Since a sector in reform needs close and constant government attention, we wrote to the Prime Minister and the Opposition, calling on them to keep a dedicated Minister for the NDIS in the Cabinet. NDS is pleased to see our Quality Compass project included in the Support for NDIS Providers Grants Program announced by Minister Bill Shorten, funding innovative projects that will support and improve quality and safeguards in the NDIS. For a sustainable NDIS, we need thriving, quality providers. The NDS Quality Compass will create tools to develop a shared understanding of safe, quality services, with people with disability at the centre. This year’s #StateOfTheDisabilitySector report showed 81 per cent of respondents were unable to respond to some requests for services. When we asked providers who turned down new clients why, thirty-nine per cent said it was because their needs were too complex. We need an NDIS pricing system that factors in quality support for complex needs. Read more important statistics in our report – which contains data from 397 disability service providers across Australia. 👉https://bit.ly/sotds24 #Disability #NDIS #Pricing

NDS #CEO Michael Perusco shared his reflections on the speech by Commissioner Louise Glanville at our #ExecutiveLeadersConference last week.👇
Reflecting on today’s discussion of NDS’s #StateOfTheDisabilitySector report, if there was ever a time that the sector needed a strong peak body it is now. With reforms under way and more change coming the sector needs to speak with one voice - one that represents the breadth of provider views. I was pleased to hear Commissioner Louise Glanville refer several times today to NDS’s submission to the Australian National Audit office. And it was good to see that NDS was asked to represent the sector at the Fair Work Commission last week. These are examples of how NDS has a wealth of expertise to share on behalf of the sector, built on a strong connection to our members across Australia. Our job at NDS is to partner our members through this period so that the scheme thrives. #ExecutiveLeadersConference #ELC2024

This year’s #StateOfTheDisabilitySector report projects a precarious outlook for the future viability of the sector and highlights an urgent need for sustainable services for people with disability. In the past year, the reform agenda has added a whole new level of uncertainty — there’s not been enough detail, nor a clear timetable, on what will happen and when. As a result, ninety-one per cent of respondents thought the NDIS policy environment was uncertain. Providers need a clear roadmap for reforms. We need more certainty in the reform agenda, more information on the timing and the sequence of changes, so providers can plan for it. For an in depth look at the sector over the last 12 months, read the report. 👉 https://bit.ly/sotds24 #Disability #NDIS #DisabilityRoadmap
