We’ve conducted detailed solar studies as part of the design of the Mac Point Multipurpose Stadium, which considered different times throughout the year. This animation shows how the stadium will have a minimal impact on nearby streets and spaces. As illustrated: · The north-eastern plaza stays mostly sunny year-round. · The south-western plaza enjoys full sun from midday onward, even in winter. · Evans Street remains largely unaffected, with only minor shadowing during winter mornings. · Importantly, the Cenotaph and surrounding landscape remain untouched by shadows at any time. Hobart is getting a new multipurpose stadium and entertainment precinct and we are excited to support Macquarie Point Development Corporation in bringing this project to life. WSP has been appointed to undertake transport modelling and a transport study as part of implementing the Mac Point Precinct and designing and developing the Multipurpose Stadium. To ensure a thriving and accessible precinct, The Transport Plan will look at the origins of people travelling to the stadium and precinct, the transport options for their journeys, and travel behaviour change strategies to support those options. We’ll also consider how the background transport network integrates with the new stadium in Hobart’s CBD. Additionally, WSP is supporting the Green Star rating for the precinct and our Geotechnical team is preparing the 3D model of the site.
