Providing strategic advice to the Queensland Government on future skills and workforce needs.
About us
Jobs Queensland was created to provide the insight and intelligence needed to help foster a skilled and productive workforce for Queensland, now and for the future; a workforce designed to meet the future needs of a growing, modern economy. To do this, Jobs Queensland brings together industry, industry associations and peak bodies, unions, employers, regions and communities to: provide strategic advice on workforce planning and development initiatives to achieve future skills and workforce needs; help government prioritise its investment in vocational education and training (VET); and build on the role of apprenticeships and traineeships as a key pathway to employment and a skilled workforce. Jobs Queensland also undertakes research to support this work and engages, collaborates and promotes these activities to ensure there is awareness across industry, government, regions and the broader community.

During Jobs Queensland's engagement in the Toowoomba region, our board members visited McLean Farms - a 3,650 hectare farm which is paving the way for large-scale ethical egg production. JQ was treated to a tour of the grading and packing floor which utilises a fully automated process to ensure both caged and free range-eggs remain untouched by human hands throughout the process, from chicken to consumer. The visit allowed the team to gain insight around immediate and long-term workforce needs of the farming industry in Toowoomba, while also observing best practices, sustainability measures and environmentally friendly farming techniques. The Jobs Queensland board recently visited the TAFE Queensland Toowoomba campus to learn about their innovative Horitculture Learning Hub. The hub is utilising state-of-the-art equipment to enhance TAFE's training programs, with the end goal of addressing skills shortages in the region. The board members had a turn of the Virtual Reality headsets which assist students with onsite practical training, such as chain sawing. The time spent on campus allowed JQ to better understand how TAFE programs are incorporating innovative practices and technologies into their training to aid future skills needs.
