About us
Health translation Queensland is an innovative partnership that integrates Queensland research, education and care for better health outcomes. Since 2014, we've been operating as a health translation collaborative network. Three years later, the National Health and Medical Research Council accredited us as an Advanced Health Research and Translation Centre. As an AHRTC, our role is to connect the efforts of individuals, organisations and communities in Queensland for better health. Our partners are health, research and education leaders who combine their strengths in state-of-the-art facilities to solve major health challenges. We bring together 13 world-class hospital and health services, research institutes and universities. By facilitating collaboration, we will ensure translation and integration of cutting-edge research and innovation deliver better health outcomes for all Queenslanders. HTQ's partners include: Queensland Health Children's Health Queensland Metro North Health Metro South Health West Moreton Health Gold Coast Health Mater Health The University of Queensland Queensland University of Technology Griffith University QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute Translational Research Institute CSIRO Australian e-Health Research Centre In creating HTQ, the partners are making a commitment to work together with a shared purpose and mission to deliver excellence in health care underpinned by strong education and research. Earlier this year, the Australian Health Research Alliance (AHRA) led engagement workshops to review the national Statement on consumer and community involvement in health and medical research (consumer statement). NHMRC also conducted an extensive online engagement to inform the review of the Statement. NHMRC and the Consumers Health Forum of Australia are reviewing the 2016 Statement on Consumer and Community Involvement in Health and Medical Research (the Statement). The Australian Health Research Alliance facilitated nationwide in-person and online workshops to discuss what could be included in a revised Statement. NHMRC also ran an online survey where stakeholders could provide a written submission which are now published on NHMRC’s website: https://ow.ly/LjuU50UsecS Reports on the feedback received through the workshop and online survey are published on AHRA’s website: https://ow.ly/wP4C50UsecX and NHMRC’s website: https://ow.ly/fazu50UsecW. The draft revised Statement will be released for public consultation in 2025. Stakeholders will have an opportunity to provide feedback on the draft Statement before it is finalised.

We are almost at the end of another busy and productive year at Health Translation Queensland, and it’s time to reflect on the collective achievements that have shaped 2024. Our 2024 Snapshot shows the key milestones on our journey this year. These achievements are a direct result of the hard work, collaboration and passion of HTQ's team and all involved. We thank our valued partners, our Board, Collaborative Group members, researchers, clinicians, consumers, and the entire HTQ community for their collaborative spirit, dedication and ongoing support this year.

Meet Tamarra Tranter, Student Wellbeing Officer and Registered Art Therapist at a community health care centre. Tamarra has extensive experience working in the mental health field, delivering art therapy programs across a variety of settings, including hospitals, schools, aged care and community organisations. Passionate about working with young people, Tamarra has now begun working in schools in early intervention. “Creating a safe space for a child to feel understood and valued, delighted in and celebrated, an environment that accepts them and holds unconditional positive regard is where the magic is. This is the definition of my heart work,” Tamarra says. A RIPPAH way to encourage allied health students to pursue rural practice The SWHHS Rural Immersion Placement Program—affectionately known as RIPPAH—aims to immerse allied health students in rural and remote practice. Following its win at the 2023 AH-TRIP Showcase, the program has continued to grow in popularity.
