Over the past two weeks, FMA hosted its annual general meetings across Australia, giving members an insight into the operations and outcomes of the Association and general industry performance. The meetings were also part of a greater networking session for those across facilities management, with many states electing to make the most of the warmer weather with an afternoon of lawn bowls. To view all the photos, visit the album here: https://lnkd.in/gmgSeZtN With the AGMs signaling the end of 2024, they also incorporated planning and identification of major areas of focus for the Association and industry at large. These key topics will play a large part in the look and feel of the 2025 FMA event calendar. Several have already been announced. Get in early and start shaping your year. Its a jovial, sociable, and positive atmosphere. We have had several hours to network, celebrate the highs of the year, and even begun to hint at plans for 2025. On stage now is Nicolas Burt Chief Executive FMA and David Chokolich General Manager – Engineering Services HFM Asset Management. They’re here to present the final three awards of the night. And as such, we can announce the final award recipients for 2024. A huge congratulations to: – FM Organisation of the Year - Walker Corporation – Young Facilities Professional of the Year - Shannon Lester of Ventia – Facilities Manager of the Year - Jodie Jinnette, Melbourne Airport and Sam Russell GAICD Monash University – People’s Choice - Shannon Lester (taking out her second award for the night). Some positive tension is building throughout the ballroom with the promise of our first set of awards approaching. Before we accolade those people and organisations, we have heard from two long term allies of the Association. First was George Stamas AM Chair of the Vulnerable Members Advisory Council on behalf of AustralianSuper – a dedicated and consistent sponsor of many FMA events and recogniser of the positive social effects FM brings. An important part of the Association is embracing our outreach to spread messages that matter. FMA has partnered with The Kids Cancer Project since 2017 and in the last two years alone, has raised $128,000 as the charity strives to find a fix, promoting research and supporting individuals and their families. CEO Owen Finegan has gotten on stage and delivered an inspired motivator for the continued alliance between FM and the charity. Now for the awards. Collaboration. It is important to us. We are an industry relying on the knowledge and work of many, with many sectors intersecting to build and develop change. Tonight – the first winner of the 2024 FM Awards for Excellence… – The Collaborative Partnership of the Year - MTC Australia Gadi Services, and Vivid Indigenous Services – Leadership in Environmental, Social, and Governance - Ventia – Leadership in Safety and Wellbeing - Megan Chatterton for her work in the Strata Disaster Project – Leadership in Industry Innovation - City Facilities Management Australia Management #FMAAust #facilitiesmanagement

As we get underway, the evening begins in memoriam to Jeff Robinson. When he passed away in April, the industry lost one of its true advocates. Respected and revered as much for his dedication to the betterment and profile of facilities management as he was for his decency, warmth, and unwavering positivity. Jeff’s passions for sustainability and collaboration reflected much of FMA’s purpose and goals. This was reflected in his participation in many advocacy groups, his major contribution to the Association’s Operational Guide to Sustainable FM and other technical publications, and his history with tonight’s Awards: Jeff was a respected part of the judging panel for over a decade – it was an opportunity he embraced; rewarding and recognising great achievements. Jeff made many friends within the industry, of which there will be many here tonight. We thank him for his professional achievements and remember him fondly. Now, we hear from current chair Bryon Price. Bryon has over 30 years in FM, his focus on strategic development, assets, and energy. He has a strong background in engineering and HVAC. And for the past five months, has been a massive aide in the continued influence of our Association. Bryan has been a strong presence at FMA: fifteen years on the board, a presence at every event, and someone willing outlay his extensive experience while also promoting the voices of others. His commitment has been clear to all who have interacted with him and the Association at large. Tonight, however, he hands over the reigns. With a well deserved reception, FMA’s Chair for 2025 is announced: David Chokolich. A mechanical engineer with almost three decades working within the built environment, he has spent time in energy and resourcing, sustainability, assessment and analysis, commercial property, defence, and government while overlapping those with asset and HVAC-focuses in facility management. Please, welcome David. He is an engaged, friendly, and impressively experienced asset to the industry and FMA is pleased to the standard set by Bryon Price continue on. #FMAust #facilitiesmanagement

After a huge year, it is time to reconcile twelve months of incredible work into a night’s worth of accolades. It has been another strong year for industry. The strength of tonight’s nominees was a showcase of the often unheralded hard work of industry participants, from driven individuals, to inimitable teams, to leading organisations. Tonight, formalities will be hosted by Claire Hooper – a household name and a legendary presence of the Australian comedy scene, having made her unique, hilarious mark on television, stage, and tonight: the facilities management industry awards. As we acknowledge the significant contributions of not just tonight’s winners and nominees, but all within the industry, FMA would also like to note the work of tonight’s sponsors. Our Sponsors have each made incredible strides within their own strands of the FM world. If you are in the ballroom with us tonight, please make sure say hello to each of them and hear of their achievements throughout 2024.
