This festive season, our team in Christchurch, New Zealand, once again recreated Santa’s Workshop, crafting wooden toys to donate to local community organisations, in what has quickly become a cherished team tradition. This year, David Blackler, Quality Specialist (aka ‘Santa Dave’), who has been hosting these volunteer days for several years, ran the workshop with help from Marc De Heer, Trade Relationship Manager, who organised the paint from Resene and materials from PlaceMakers Riccarton at cost. In total, the team of 16 completed nearly 100 toys and six rocking horses, that will be donated to Pillars Ka Pou Whakahou, The Hoon Hay Foodbank, and Women’s Refuge. “We’re proud to contribute toys and rocking horses that will last for years to come! A special shout out to Dave whose passion for giving back is infectious, and his expertise was key to making this workshop a success,” Marc said. A huge thanks to Resene Colorshop Tower Junction Christchurch for donating paint, Douglas Quirk (owner of Hawkeye Decorators) who donated nine litre pots of paint, Richard Lines (Divisional Manager Asbestos, Dominion) who organised lunch and drinks for everyone and worked tirelessly to make the day a success, BGIS Christchurch team for their positive attitude and work ethic, helping exceed last year’s toy count, and Charlie from Hoon Hay Foodbank for contributing to the toy making effort.

This festive season, Sonny Dhaliwal, Systems and Method Analyst from Gold Coast University Hospital (GCUH) rolled up his sleeves and gift-wrapped Christmas presents at Australia Fair for the Gold Coast Hospital Foundation. Throughout December, Christmas shoppers visit the 'Gift Wrap Bar' and pay for the service with all proceeds donated to the Gold Coast Hospital Foundation, the official charity for Gold Coast Health.
