Engender Equality along with the Domestic Violence Coordinating Committee hosted a forum in Hobart to raise awareness of systems abuse. Systems Abuse is insidious in our communities. It is the part of family violence that happens in public, in the line of sight and sometimes with the support of professionals. Revealing the extent of this problem involves recognising abuse and people who use abuse. #ListenToSurvivors

At Agfest this year, in the spirit of sustainability, we opted to donate $5000 towards charity instead of the usual giveaways! Visitors to our site were invited to vote for their preferred charity category community, youth, or environment. Community was a popular choice and we’re delighted to share that we’ve selected Engender Equality as the recipient. Servicing communities around Tasmania, this long-standing organisation has a crucial mission: to end family, domestic and intimate partner violence. Offering free, confidential counselling sessions for people recovering from family and domestic violence and building organisational capacity through specialised training services, the team at Engender Equality empower people to stand against violence against women.

Fundraising at Engender Equality The generosity of individual donors makes an enormous difference to Engender Equality. Small donors have the collective power to drive substantial change. When a community of individuals comes together, each contributing what they can, it forms a strong foundation for long-term support. Their donations add up and create a reliable source of funding. Small donors enhance our ability to innovate via outreach efforts and awareness raising. In essence, small individual donors are not just financial supporters; they are partners in our mission. Their contributions are the building blocks of our ability to provide vital services, create lasting change, and ultimately, help bring an end to family violence. Their generosity, regardless of the amount, has a significant impact, allowing us to continue our essential work. Fundraising at Engender Equality “At Taroona Rugby Club, we're evolving our traditions to be more inclusive. The longstanding worldwide tradition of Lady's Day in rugby, an event where clubs express appreciation to female supporters, has taken on a dynamic transformation within our community. We've reimagined and modernised this tradition by giving it a charitable purpose and the amazing women in our club are leading the way. We've committed to supporting Engender Equality, an organisation close to our hearts. Engender Equality deeply resonates with our commitment to stand against family and domestic violence. Together, we're uniting to create positive change, raise essential funds, and foster a stronger, more inclusive community. This partnership signifies a step forward in our journey. With a rapidly growing female presence in our club, this event stands as a testament to our dedication to inclusivity and a brighter, more equal future.” - Simon Plumb (President - Taroona Rugby Club) You can donate to the Engender Equality Fellowship here: https://lnkd.in/gyEEqQcx Or to talk to us about a fundraising partnership you can contact us here: https://lnkd.in/gdveZSgV

Our family violence practitioners took part in a three-day virtual training last week, led by the Blue Knot Foundation During the three-day training, staff learned about a Three-Phased Approach to trauma support. On Day 1, they gained insights into the concept of phased treatment, neurobiological impacts, and developing safety and stabilisation strategies. Days 2 and 3 covered traumatic memory, therapy titration, dissociation, and skills for Phase 3 trauma work including meaning-making, connecting with others and the ability to experience pleasure. Many thanks to Peter Streker and the Blue Knot Foundation for helping to equip our brilliant team to provide even better care for victim-survivors in Tasmania.
