About us
Disability Sports Australia is a charity and not-for-profit that aims to enable more Australians with disability to be active more often. The organisation is one of Australia’s nine National Sporting Organisations for people with disability, all of whom share a common purpose to improve the lives of Australians living with disability using sport as the medium. At Disability Sports Australia, we aim to connect Australians living with disability to local active and adaptive opportunities through trusted programs such as the National Referral Hub, Activate Inclusion Sports Days, Sports Incubator and Accessibility Champion. Disability Sports Australia marshals the efforts of highly committed disability sports and active recreation groups across Australia.

At DSA, we constantly aim to have a positive impact and increase access to sport and recreation for people with disability. That’s why we now have an annual ‘Impact’ Report rather than an Annual Report. In the 2023-24 financial year we are proud to have delivered more events and opportunities than ever before in our community. Thank You! We have had an incredible year and are so grateful to have received your support in so many different ways. You have volunteered at events, liked and shared our social media posts, offered words of encouragement, written articles about us, partnered with us and sponsored us! Quite simply put, our goal of increasing inclusion and participation in grassroots sport for people with disability wouldn’t be achievable without your help. This year we have taken even greater strides towards this goal. And we can’t wait to share our plans for 2025 with you as we move into the new year. As for now, our team is taking a break for the holiday season. Our office will be closed from Monday 23 December until Friday 3 January. We will see you in 2025! ✨

Leeanne has been a dedicated Director at Disability Sports Australia since February 2018 until this year. During her tenure, she oversaw numerous successes, including navigating our return to operations during the pandemic and leading targeted advocacy with all levels of government and the development of numerous strategies that have impacted on the community. Her commitment to integrity and human resources on various subcommittees has been invaluable. We deeply appreciate Leeanne's hard work and dedication to Disability Sports Australia. Leeanne Grantham

We are so proud to be a partner of Bupa!
This International Day of People with a Disability, we’re celebrating an incredible year that’s seen conversations grow around disability, inclusion and our communities. For many years, we have been working on making Bupa a disability confident workplace, but this year we took a significant step in formalising this work in our first Access and Inclusion Plan. Building on the great work to date, the plan focuses on working on practical ways to expand our access and inclusion policies and practices for our people, residents and for our customers. One in five Australians live with a disability and as proud healthcare partner of Paralympics Australia and supporter of Disability Sports Australia, we see the direct impact sport, inclusion and community has on health and wellbeing – no matter what level you play. In this Paralympic year, we’ve witnessed a shift in conversations about disability and Aussie’s perception of what life with a disability looks like, and we’re excited to help share those stories. The Bupa Beyond the Games survey found 64% of people agree that the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games made them see people with a disability just as capable as those without a disability. We’re working to carry that momentum into 2025 and beyond, working with our people to ensure our workplace is inclusive and set up to support people of all abilities to be their best. #IDPwD Shae Graham, Curtis McGrath OAM PLY

This International Day of People with Disabilities, we reaffirm our commitment to inclusion and empowerment through sport. Guided by Article 30 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, we strive to "promote the participation, to the fullest extent possible, of persons with disabilities in sporting activities at all levels." Together, let's create opportunities for everyone to thrive on and off the field.
