Here to collaborate, advocate and facilitate inclusive sport and physical activity for Australians with a disability.
About us
Our aim is to create a world where Australians with a disability can participate in sports at all levels, without barriers or borders. From grassroot level to high-performance, we strive to provide safe and inclusive environments where everyone can participate, learn, and grow. Working with Australia's National Sporting Organisations for People with Disability (NSODs), we exist to create ‘one voice’, a unified voice that represents the broader Australian sport and physical activity sectors, and advocates for greater awareness and greater inclusion for people the ASAPD members represent. 🎉 Huge congratulations to the CommBank ParaMatildas on their historic World Cup victory! 🏆⚽ What an incredible achievement for the team and a proud moment for disability sport in Australia. Special shoutout to Rae Anderson, a true champion and leader both on and off the field! 🌟👏 #ParaMatildas #WorldCupChamps #InclusiveSport Disability Sports Australia
A Truly Historic Moment for Australian Football! ⚽ The CommBank ParaMatildas have made history by becoming the first-ever Australian national football team to win a World Cup! 🏆🇦🇺 Their journey to this incredible achievement is nothing short of remarkable. The new program was launched by Football Australia in 2022, and the ParaMatildas have quickly risen to the top. What makes their victory even more impressive is their funding model. Despite receiving no government funding, the team has often relied on fundraising campaigns and sponsorships to ensure they can compete without financial burden on the athletes. Congratulations to Football Australia and all the sponsors, individuals and supporters who have helped the team reach this milestone. Most importantly, well done to all the athletes and coaches who have worked so hard and with determination to achieve this result. We are also personally very proud of Rae Anderson, our Abilities Unleashed Officer at Disability Sports Australia. Rae exemplifies everything good about disability sport. A former dual-Paralympian, she is a mentor, leader, and now a world champion! Now let's get this sport reinstated and into the Brisbane 2032 Paralympics Games! What a day for disability sport in Australia! Australian Sports Commission | Allianz Australia | Commonwealth Bank | Nike | Coles Group
