A game-changer for Search worldwide, and now Down Under. The team at Daisy Digital has dedicated time over the past 6 months to better understand AI Overviews and the impacts it will have on search. Through this, we have developed strategies and worked with our clients to ensure that their websites are ready for this launch.

We've been telling you about it, and now it's finally happening. Google's new generative AI experience on Search (AI Overviews) is now officially rolling out in Australia, and it's going to change the way you find information online. Google today announced that the service has rolled out in an additional 100 countries, including Australia. Not all Google users will see AI Overviews in their search results straight away, with the feature rolling out gradually across selected users. When will Google Launch AI Overviews in Australia? This is a question we are regularly asked and a question we ask ourselves daily. The good news is that we could have an answer sooner rather than later. In May, the Australian Senate resolved that a Select Committee on Adopting Artificial Intelligence (AI) be established to look into the "opportunities and impacts for Australians arising out of the uptake of AI technologies." The committee intends to have a report with Parliament on or before next Thursday (September 19th). Understandably, through the Senate inquiry, the Federal Government is trying to understand the impacts of AI and the implications across a wide range of industries in trying to draw up regulations, and companies like Google, Amazon and Microsoft are believed to be waiting for this before expanding certain AI technologies to the Australian market. Google themselves are aware of this, with Google's Product Director Responsible for AI saying, "Google is committed to working with the Australian government on an AI governance approach that mitigates AI risks while enabling innovation to flourish. We believe that the global approach to AI must be both bold and responsible. AI is too important not to regulate and too important not to regulate well.
