Last month, CAF had the honour of hosting Professor Tomoya Obokata, the UN Special Rapporteur on Contemporary Forms of Slavery, at a training session for CAF Representatives. The event brought together cleaners, United Workers Union organisers, and CAF staff to address challenges in the cleaning industry and explore solutions for fostering safer, fairer workplaces. In our latest blog, we explore: • How we support out CAF Representatives to transform their workplaces and the cleaning industry. • How CAF’s initiatives align with the Special Rapporteur’s recommendations to combat exploitation and modern slavery. • CAF’s leadership in anti-slavery and due diligence efforts, within the high-risk cleaning supply chain sector. CAF’s commitment to worker empowerment, enhanced due diligence, and multi-stakeholder collaboration is driving meaningful change in the cleaning industry. Recent recognition from the UN Special Rapporteur reinforces the domestic impact of our work and highlights that it is being noticed internationally. 👉 Read our latest blog post to learn how partnering with CAF can help you protect vulnerable workers and enhance transparency in your cleaning supply chain: https://lnkd.in/gpP5Y9mH #SupplyChain #Property #DecentWork #Cleaners #ESG #BizHumanRights #LabourRights

📢 We’re thrilled to announce the release of our CAF Annual Report for 2024, capturing a year of achievements, growth, and new initiatives aimed at lifting standards across the cleaning industry. This year is especially meaningful as CAF celebrated its 10th anniversary — a decade dedicated to fair, safe, and equitable working conditions for cleaners. 🎉 Some highlight’s from this year’s report include: 💡 CAF Portfolio Certification – In partnership with ISPT, we successfully piloted our Portfolio program in order to scale up CAF Certification. This included building on our Procurement offering and introducing our Portfolio Rating program, creating a new industry benchmark for labour rights and accountability. 🗨️ Direct Engagement with Cleaners – Together with the United Workers Union, CAF conducted 99 in-person meetings with over 1,000 cleaners. These discussions raised critical issues like excessive workloads, unsafe conditions, underpayment, and the impact of heat stress. 🙌 Celebrating 10 Years of CAF – Our anniversary event brought together industry stakeholders, cleaners, academics, trade unionists, and CAF staff to celebrate and reflect on a decade of collaboration and progress. Thank you to everyone who has supported CAF over the years. As a multistakeholder initiative, we rely on and deeply value the contributions of our partners and members in our efforts to advance working conditions for cleaners—now and into the future. Labour rights are a vital part of our human rights, impacting us all on a daily basis. Unfortunately, many workers, including cleaners, still face exploitation and unfair treatment at work. Cleaners, who play a crucial role in our communities, often lack the recognition and protections they deserve. The theme for this Human Rights Day is "Our Rights, Our Future, Right Now". Today, CAF stands with cleaners in their call for: 👉 Fair wages that ensure dignity and a decent standard of living. 👉 Safe working conditions that prioritise health and well-being. CAF works with property owners, facilities managers and cleaning contractors to ensure that cleaners have fair and safe conditions at work, now and into the future.
