As the year draws to a close, we are thrilled to celebrate two incredible initiatives that highlight our commitment to both environmental conservation and cultural enrichment: 🌿 Boost for Our Waterways: The City welcomes the State Government’s dedication to the Swan Canning Riverpark, with $27,380 in funding granted to local Friends groups through the Community Rivercare Program. These funds will support vital restoration projects, safeguarding our iconic waterways for generations to come. Thank you to our Friends Groups for their ongoing support and commitment to our natural environment. 🎨 Sculptures come to the Scarp: The December Ordinary Council Meeting closed out with a bang, with the City supporting the concept of the Perth Observatory Sculpture Park and a biennial sculpture event. This visionary project paves the way for a unique cultural experience, blending art, science, and community in the stunning Perth Hills. What a fantastic way to wrap up the year, with some quick wins for tourism and sustainability in the City of Kalamunda! #CityofKalamunda #Tourism #Sustainability #PublicArt #EndofYearFeels

The City of Kalamunda was recognised as one of the leaders in Access and Inclusion at the Most Accessible Communities Awards WA (MACWA) which was announced last Thursday 5 December. The City won the Public Open Space section for Stirk Park and the All-Abilities Playground at Magnolia and was the overall runner up Most Accessible Community in WA. The upgrades to Stirk Park and Magnolia Way Reserve represent the City of Kalamunda's commitment to creating inclusive, accessible, and engaging community spaces. Through active community consultation and collaboration with advisory groups, these parks embody a vision where all residents can come together to play, explore, and connect. This process not only ensures that the facilities meet the diverse needs of the community but also fosters a sense of ownership and pride among residents. These parks serve as vital community hubs, promoting social cohesion, encouraging physical activity, and enhancing overall well-being for everyone, regardless of their abilities.
