If you're familiar with mental training in professional sports, you're in for a treat! You may have heard of the incredible technique of visualization or mental rehearsal. It's the process of mentally rehearsing the desired outcome. Bobsleigh pilots like Francesco Friedrich, for example, rehearse their next course hundreds of times so that their bodies and minds know almost automatically when to turn left, right, or hit the brakes. And of course, all the other peak performers like Tiger Woods or #SerenaWilliams, who are running the Olympics, use the power of visualization to outperform their competitors. The extraordinary swim star #MichaelPhelps, for example, accelerated his mental game not just by thinking about the best possible outcome. He mentally rehearsed even alternate outcomes and variations of the upcoming event! “When I would visualize, it would be whatever I wanted it to be, and it would be whatever I didn't want it to be. You are always ready no matter what comes your way,” says Phelps, and that is a true winners mindset. The most amazing thing about mental rehearsal or visualization is that our brain doesn't know whether we've physically practiced or just imagined it. It will always react the same way as if you were physically doing it. And there's more! Visualization is also a fantastic tool for bringing clarity, commitment, and drive to your teams and businesses. #SteveJobs, an extremely successful entrepreneur and storyteller of this century, showed us the best way to do it. He was a huge advocate and fan of simple yet successful visualizations and presentations. Nothing is more constant than change – cliché or truth? This sentence is heard very often in today's world, and I firmly believe that it should not just be an excuse for poor leadership and communication in times of change. That's why I talked to Matthias Haller from personalmagazin about the qualities that make a good leader in times of change. Because Rolls-Royce Power Systems AG is currently undergoing a transformation, as it always has been: we are constantly reviewing which areas are sustainable. We must always evolve with the market and, for example, current requirements for energy efficiency and sustainability – standing still would be disastrous. Rolls-Royce provides a convincing answer. In times of great transformation, as we are currently experiencing, leadership has its finest hour! ⭐  Employees need to understand the goal of our transformation in order to give their best and to feel psycological safe. Here, leaders need to listen, need to understand the questions and of course - also the concerns of their teams. It is important to provide security. Leadership must empower and not patronise. #performance and #humanity is not a contradiction. From the Field to the Boardroom: The Unique Skills Female Athletes Bring to Leadership Have you ever wondered why athletes often rise to the top in leadership? For female athletes, the skills learned on the field are equally valuable in the boardroom. As a trailblazer and the first professional female beach volleyball player in Austria, I’ve seen firsthand the challenges of being a woman in elite sports. Men often had more opportunities for sponsorship and higher pay—even when I was ranked top 10 in the world. However, I’m encouraged to see progress with initiatives like Equal Play Day (1st of March!), an event that aims to raise awareness about the imbalance in how women’s sports are broadcasted compared to men’s. It highlights just how much further we need to go in terms of visibility and equality for women in sports. Now, as a mentor and advocate for women in leadership and coaching, I’m passionate about using my platform to help bring more diversity and fresh perspectives into traditionally male-dominated fields. Participation in sports teaches athletes discipline, teamwork, and resilience—skills that are directly transferable to leadership roles. It’s no surprise that 95% of Fortune 500 CEOs were athletes. By incorporating more women into leadership roles, including in coaching, we can ensure diversity in energy, thought, and strategy, which leads to greater success for all. Why Women Need Female Mentors Mentorship is a powerful tool in shaping future leaders. For female athletes, having a female mentor can be a game-changer. Women face unique challenges in the world of sports—whether it's breaking through barriers or managing work-life balance. Female mentors provide vital guidance, offering insights into navigating these challenges while empowering young athletes to build confidence and resilience. A mentor not only passes down experience but fosters a relationship of trust and empowerment. The more female mentors we have, the more balanced and inclusive the future of sports leadership will be. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗧-𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗲: 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁, 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝗘𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵? The T-profile - a mix of deep expertise and broad knowledge - has been hyped as the ultimate framework for years. Efficient? Sure. Versatile? Definitely. But here’s the real question: in today’s fast-paced, specialized world, is it still cutting it? My take: Not really. While it works in certain roles, it often falls flat in high-pressure, complex fields like finance or accounting. Here’s why: - Expecting one person to be both a master and a jack of all trades? Unrealistic. - It piles on pressure, leads to burnout, and forces compromises in quality. 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩’𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚? Stop overloading individuals. Split the load. - Specialists go deep. - Generalists connect the dots. - Collaboration brings it all together. That’s the foundation of the Z-model: a framework I believe fits today’s demands far better. This post is just the beginning.
