More than 50 Cornell student groups are participating in the 2024 crowdfunding burst, now in its 12th year, to imagine—and create!—a better world.

All of the funds raised through the crowdfunding platform go directly to student groups so that they can perform internationally, launch podcasts, engineer real-world solutions, and bring their projects to reality.

This year’s burst will run from November 1 through December 5, 2024, and over half the teams this year represent engineering projects.

“Being part of the Cornell Seismic Design Team has been amazing because it gives us a chance to learn and do something meaningful while working with a tight knit community. We’re not just learning from textbooks—we’re working together to design structures that can stand up to real earthquakes, preparing for things that could actually save lives. Teams making their debut this year include (among others):

• Quantum Computing Association, which expands opportunities for students to explore and innovate in cutting-edge research projects in quantum simulation, hardware, and algorithms
• Sloan Forward Fund, which helps to offset costs for Masters in Health Administration students to attend professional conferences, empowering them to become the next generation of healthcare leaders
• Philanthropic Leadership, which empowers students to make real grants to Tompkins County nonprofit organizations as part of an immersive, engaged learning experience about the importance of philanthropy

Many groups are returning and hope to continue previous successes: the Cornell Fashion Collective, Cornell Racing FSAE, and Cornell Speech and Debate Society all exceeded their goals in 2024.
