CU Wind Symphony Community-Engaged Tour of Cuba

In January 2024, the Cornell Barbara & Richard T. Silver Wind Symphony embarked on a nine-day community-engaged performance tour of Cuba. The tour was co-produced by Ned Sublette, author of Cuba and Its Music, and was designed to foster ongoing, reciprocal partnerships with Cuban individuals and organizations. Our primary partner was the National Concert Band of Cuba, directed by Maestro Igor Ernesto Corcuera Cáceres.

Wind Symphony alumni have cited our tours of Cuba (2024) and Haiti and the Dominican Republic (2017, 2019) as the most impactful experiences of their Cornell careers. We need your support to return to Cuba in January 2026 and continue our partnership with the National Concert Band of Cuba.

Please help us continue our community engagement activities in support of Cornell’s mission to discover, preserve, and disseminate knowledge and educate the next generation of global citizens.
