Description/Qualifications: Applies knowledge and experience to conduct system preventative maintenance and as well as solve system problems from simple to complex.
Technicians use system specific maintenance manuals and other technical documents to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair simulator devices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: Applies technical knowledge to solve problems by properly interpreting maintenance manuals or other technical documents.
Assists, where requested, in the design of minor hardware system modifications and software programs to improve simulator operability.
Conducts quality control inspections and inspects maintenance work performed.
Maintains required documentation of maintenance activities.
Monitors and tracks the repair status of inoperative equipment and document maintenance activities utilizing the logistics management database system.
Documents maintenance activities that include work order generation and updates, repair action documentation, issuing, returning, and adjusting inventory, updating inventory records, and other material control duties as assigned.
Supports Engineering requirements where needed/requested.
Uses knowledge of simulator and aircraft systems to interpret advanced technical data.
Interprets and works with computer systems utilizing various and multiple operating systems.
Diagnoses malfunctions of computers and associated equipment and performs operability/readiness tests and repair.
Performs systems interface/fault isolation.
Applies fundamental troubleshooting procedures in the maintenance of interfaces and peripheral equipment used with computers.
Interprets mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronic schematics and drawings and makes simplified versions.
Conducts voice communications on phone, inter-phone, and radio circuits.
Provides networking and information systems support on training devices and networks.
Maintains good relations with customers and ensures information flows within technical organization.
Implements basic modifications to existing simulators.
Senior Technicians provide technical guidance and training to other Technician employees.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities As Required Security Clearance and Responsibilities Must either have a current security clearance or be fully eligible for the requisite clearance for the Technician position.
Must comply with all company Information Systems security policies and procedures.
Employees will be responsible for proper handling of classified information, materials, and equipment.
Employees will be required to execute a non-disclosure agreement prior to accessing controlled information.
Education and/or Experience High School diploma or equivalent and completion of a civilian or military basic electronic program.
Three (3) to Five (5) years’ experience as a Flight Simulator Maintenance Technician or equivalent.
Ability to troubleshoot problems on flight simulation equipment, including digital and analog hardware, and motion systems.
Experience in conducting practical training in checking, repairing, and calibrating critical solid-state devices.
Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the Simulator Maintenance field.
Demonstrated technical writing and oral communication skills.
Qualifications Candidates for this position must have the requisite level of knowledge, skill, and ability required for their position that includes: Must be proficient in the use and operation of test equipment to perform pre- and post-operational test on installed equipment to perform preventive maintenance using preventative maintenance cards and instruction books.
Must possess skills necessary to diagnose and isolate malfunctions in electronic systems; align, adjust, and calibrate installed training devices; interpret mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronic schematics and prepare simplified versions.
Must possess skills to perform calibrations, adjustments and tests on electronic equipment; analyze operation, verify discrepancies, isolate malfunctions and replace defective components used in installed devices.
Must possess and maintain proficiency in the use of diagnostic programs, interpretation of results, and the use of program listings to isolate faults and be adept in the use of test equipment, repair of micro/miniature printed circuit boards, electro/mechanical systems and devices to include projection display systems, computer-controlled motion and electronic control loading systems and computer-generated sound systems.
Must be proficient in the use of diagnostic programs, interpretation of results and use of program listings to isolate faults.
Must be skilled at use and operation of test equipment, including “O” scopes, frequency counters, volt/ohm meters and range calibration set.
Must be able to perform routine preventive maintenance using maintenance requirement cards and instructional manuals; perform daily system readiness test, pre-operational and post-operational checkouts.
Must exhibit capability to work in a team environment.
Must be able to drive a forklift, man-lift, or other support equipment as required if trained and certified to operate.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
Must be able to effectively deliver oral presentations to management and customers.
Must be able to work overtime as required.
Must be willing to work any shift or day of the week as required.
Language Skills Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents/diagrams.
Will be required to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries.
